How did they do this? (viral Stranger Things prop)

My guess is just used braided fishing line and a very lightweight body prop. I saw people comment everything from helium balloons to using a drone. The simplest solution is likely the right one. It's just hanging off of a thin braided line or two that run above it with another that runs dont to the ground below it to keep it from swaying or turning very much. The video looks impressive, but I bet in reality there are lines visible to the human eye that the camera does not pick up on.

There's a similar prop in my town and they used a large helium filled balloon in the body cavity. It last for 1-2 days and then they have to refill the helium. The weight of the prop keeps it from spinning or blowing away. They may have use the same technique.
The props I saw were ghosts that hovered about 7'-8' above the ground, no strings, no attachments. I asked him how he was able to achieve the illusion and he said a lot of trial and error to get the weight of the prop worked out with the amount of helium to make it float but keep it stationary.

I am looking forward to seeing this closer to Halloween because I'm hoping they do up the lighting & surrounding elements to feel super spooky! I would guess fishing line as well, but no matter how they did it, it's been fun for me because at least seven people I know have sent me this link because they know we like Halloween!
It's nice to be known for your hobbies! Ha ha!

I seen this on some video and thought how impressive it was, definitely a great illusion, would be something I would want to do at the Halloween campground event. Completely unique and be the talk of the campground in both sections, have already done that with people coming up from other section saying that they were told they had to come see it.

Not sure how it's attached at the end points (most likely from the house to the street light) but it's some type of thin line, you can see it shining behind her back at 1:12 and again at 2:39 in the video. It appears to have a single attachment point at her back and front based on the way it swings slightly from side to side.
I saw a similar effect a few years ago with a display that had 10-12 ghosts that were hovering about 7'-8' above the ground. He used white mylar helium balloons to achieve the effect. It was really cool because each one was at a slightly different height and they moved slightly which gave them the appearance of being alive.

I found a few videos that help with this secret. One is someone else making a similar prop and showing how they do it. I found tons of the same videos from various news stations where they don't give up their secret, but clearly state that it is not helium or drones. This is the guy that was making his own:
. And here is what someone found and posted that proves that the simplest way is usually how it's done. If you paint fishing line flat black it becomes nearly invisible even up close, and especially at night. Here's what they discovered: Rick A on TikTok

It's unfortunate but we have a house near us that has a similar situation. Their Christmas light display is insane ... But sadly the traffic getting in and out of their neighborhood is also insane. It gets dark around 4:30, and cars start staking out a spot right as school gets out at like 2:30. They turn the lights off around 10pm but even so ... Neighbors have begged for a day off each week.

I get it, it's a busy time of year and suddenly you can't go grocery shopping without planning for a 30 min slog down your own road. Yay for the happy people visiting the lights but not so happy to live near them.

I have one of those neighbors. I made an agreement with her not to complain against my Halloween display and I wouldn't complain against her Christmas display. Even if she did complain I would have just filed legal action for religious persecution as I observe the traditional holidays of All Hallows' Eve (10/31), All Saints' / Souls' Day (11/1), Krampusnacht (Krampus Night) (12/5) and The Feast of St. Nicholas (12/6). I'm sure if the couple filed legal action they could get their display back up.

If you look at this video below they have a hovering Max character prop from Stranger Things that would be fun to use. I guessed that it is a fishing string spanning from the house roof to that light pole. Another YouTube use re-created it with a 75lb fishing wire. Great idea to use with my props. I didn't realize the string was so invisible. See link below

Safety - Fire Trucks and Ambulances win over Halloween or Christmas displays historically.
There are lots of old threads, go too big (all it takes is a TV crew) and its more problems than pleasure.
I'm not sure this is a case of too big, just unusual and was drawing interest and crowds.

Yesterday there was a note in my mailbox from one of my neighbors, but the handwriting was of a child, "I Like your Decorations" the other side a Halloween scene colored in crayon. Better than a TV crew.
The Halloween House on my street.
