Must be a regional thing, as I'm not familiar with Beggars Night. Here in the Philadelphia-area, so far as I can recall, there's only ever been trick-or-treating on Halloween night.

 

"Beggars Night"="Trick or Treating"=Same holiday. Its called a few different things in different states

 

It's a regional thing. I know parts of Ohio do this. Most other places do not schedule trick or treating or refer to Beggar's Night. Here in Texas it's always the 31st. You will see the occasional group that trys to schedule things on different times, but nothing really organized by a municipality.

 

around here each town may schedule it on different nights. Especially when it hits a friday ( HS football means very few people home to hand out treats) They also schedule it around parades etc. Sometimes it is Halloween sometimes a weekend. I think a lot of people stay prepared in case there are ToTs on the actual Holiday . Me..I never get ToTs because of where I live.the ONLY thing I miss about not living in town or even a ghastly housing development..the ONLY thing..

 

I live in a large neighborhood with an association. I remember twice them trying to change the day of Halloween in our neighborhood. Everyone ignored it. Doesn't really work since families living in nearby apartments bring their kids to out neighborhood to trick or treat.

 

I'm in southern Ohio and here we have had trick or treat on other days. Mainly the Sunday afternoon before Halloween. Seems like now the trend is moving back toward Halloween night.

We do our Halloween at a campground and it's always done at like 2pm. It really kinda sucks. Kids can't enjoy the yard displays when it's daylight.

 

If your town is setting up a Beggar's Night you can expect the bulk of your trick-or-treaters to come that Sunday, but be prepared with candy for older kids to come on Halloween night. My town doesn't do this so everyone is out "full blast" on Halloween night, but there are some towns in northern CT that do this. They encourage ALL trick-or-treating to be done on the town-scheduled night but of course there will be kids who won't listen to no stinkin' officials.

 

Central Ohio here, the way they do it is it is on Halloween night unless that night falls on a weekend. They seem to think people get into more trouble if it is on a weekend. So it shifts depending on when it is, i.e. this year since Halloween will be on a Wednesday beggars night will also be on Wednesday.

 

My city is doing it on the 30th this year, but you can bet I will be out there passing out candy on the 31st. Im going to add that to my led scroll board.

 

I'm fortunate that I live in an area that doesn't mess with the trick or treat hours. Always on Halloween night. I really don't know how I would like the local government changing the tradition of Halloween.

 

We not only do H'ween night, our school actually closes early so kids can get ready. Yep, for real!

 

same here we only do halloween night.....if halloween lands on a sunday kids come round on a saturday....
