Hope it isn't too early to bring this topic up, but with October 31st falling on a Friday this year, how will that impact your plans? Do you see it as a positive or negative?

I've only been yard haunting for a few years and don't recall if there was a difference between Halloween falling on a weeknight or weekend in this neighborhood or not.
I'm also wondering if the pro-haunts will continue to have events on into Saturday night, or if most of their big activities will be held the weekend prior?

I've had different feelings about Friday (and Saturday) Halloweens throughout the years but as much as I think about it, I don't think Friday is all that great. Ultimately, to me, Halloween is about trick-or-treating as the main event as I've aged to see kids happy (and scared).

A Friday night in theory seems like it would be nice so kids aren't tired the next day and the haunt can go later, but in reality Friday night Halloweens actually seem to have less people participating in the trick-or-treating event, at least in what I have experienced. Friday night high school football is a big thing here that draws people away from their homes, and some of the regular adults don't seem as keen about giving up their Friday night to stay home and pass out candy. Many would rather be out at a party or doing something else on a Friday night.

I've found Sunday Halloweens to actually be the best for trick-or-treating. People in general are home Sunday nights and it gives people much of Sunday to decorate and plan, and it can also start a little earlier because people aren't commuting home from work. And I feel like Sunday night trick-or-treating is a good send off of to a weekend of fun where the adult parties already happened either Friday or Saturday night, and Sunday becomes solely about the kids with everyone still in high spirits.

This is my experience too, Friday & Saturday aren't great for ToTing. That said I'll still do the yard & have the same amount of treat bags done that I always have done.

I do agree that the ToTer count goes a little down (esp the teens), but the party atmosphere (here in SoCal) goes way up. I'm fortunate to live on a flat, active street, so the adults will have a little more gin in their juice and it's going to be a blast. I knew 2 years ago that 2025 would be a Friday Halloween and warned my wife accordingly :p

For me Fridays and Saturdays are best since I can shove everything in the garage after the big event, and take my time the next morning knowing I have a full day to start storing things away. It also seems like we have had more kids with their adult companions dressed up. I think since most folks don’t need to wake up early the next morning most older folks take the time to dress up and park take of the festivities vs just watching their kids trick ‘r threat.

Hard to tell. The last time it was on a Saturday was 2020 during the covid lockdowns. I had 6 kids total for the night. (No Friday Halloween the previous year because of the leap year.) The previous Friday/Saturday sequence was 2014/15 - a decade ago. How many neighborhood kids have outgrown or grown into the holiday since then remains to be seen.
I enjoy going to Halloween parties (the over-21 kind) for the same reason I like Comicon - to see people's creative costuming. But the mission comes first so I always stay home to frighten/delight the locals regardless of what day it's on. Consequently I'm not a fan of "weekend" Halloweens because of what I miss.

The last time Halloween was on a Friday was 2014.....I can't even remember what the heck happened last year let alone 2014 🤣

Kind of crappy for me personally as I clean up the next day and I'm a football junkie so my weekends are football filled. Early riser I shall be to make it all just magically disappear.

The better the weather, the better the turnout regardless which day it falls on specifically for us.

I have 50 feet of tents in my front yard. One tent is for props plus the garage the other four are to pass out candy and adult drinks for the ToTers and their parents, three tents are party tents for friends and neighbors. If there aren't as many ToTers at least the friends and neighbors will stay longer since they won't have to work the next day.

I'm torn... I usually take Nov 1 off work so me & the Spouse can disassemble the cemetery and get the yard cleaned up before putting everything away at our leisure. So do we take advantage of the weekend to get everything put away? Or leave it up and have an excuse to take Monday off work? I'm leaning towards taking Monday off, since the 3 & 5 year old grandkids live with us and they add a degree of difficulty to.... everything!

When my wife and I lived in apartments we spent a big portion of the year planning Halloween parties and activities around what day of the week Halloween night fell.
Do we have the big party the weekend before? When do we have the carving party? What do we do the night of Halloween? When it fell on a weekend it was so awesome! So when we started looking forward to buying a house we knew exactly how many years we had to wait for a Friday Halloween.
But, then once our display got fairly large and we got on a list of home haunts we ended up having many "open nights" and Halloween turned into a season instead of one night or a few nights. Once people started remembering us and seeking us out, we ended up having a consistent number of ToT's regardless of which night Halloween fell. Especially since the display turned into more of an experience on Halloween night, the neighborhood ToT's wait to come Halloween night for the whole vibe.
But at heart, both my wife and I love the Friday and Saturday Halloween nights and look forward to them for years.
