Wow what a mouth full of a thread title. I think I caught all the 'dollar store' stores folks shop at (99Cents officially went bankrupt last year right?).

Daiso might be a new name for some folks, it's a Japanese dollar store. Most are in Cali, Washington, and Texas but more are opening every year. Sway's Deals did a walkthrough last year of one
thought it would be nice to get this on the radar for people who might live near one and didn't know!
(also it's crazy they aren't a franchise. Everything is done by corporate. They expanded a lot in South Korea but it got too big and unruly to manage from Japan so they sold the entire Korean branch instead.)
Halloween becomes more popular in Japan every year so it'll be neat to see how they will expand their retail offerings.

Well anyway I wanted to start the thread because of a bit of schadenfreude. My closest Party City is becoming a Dollar Tree. Now I'll have 4 stores within a 15 minute drive. Maybe this year I'll finally get enough plastic spiders 😜

So I went to the Grand Opening Saturday for Daiso. I got there at 8:30, with the store opening at 9. I knew that there would be a line, but apparently people got in line starting at midnight, so it took me 3 hours of waiting to get in. They did a whole ribbon cutting, cute custom tote bags, free dirty sodas, and everything. It's huge! I was in the store about an hour and still didn't see everything-so much stuff! When I left, they was still a line that would be at least 2 hours. The next day (Sunday) I drove by on my way to something else about 1:30 and there was a line about an hour long, in the heavy rain. I can't wait to see what they do for Halloween. They gave me a coupon good after the 31st, so I will go back soon and when I don't have to wait so long.

It's really unique. It's also right next to Five Below, so they aren't too similar, except in prices. Hard to describe if you haven't been to one. It's essentially a Japanese dollar store, but the prices are more like $2 for most items. They have their own line of home goods, too. And they have an incredibly diverse range of items.

What the crappy AI are these witches?!?!

I like these signs but hate all those witches. I have bought them in the past & covered them with white board peel & stick & used them as signs for other things.

Why does the site say $7 but they all have $5 stickers on them?

Hit Five Below today & this was as close to Halloween as I could get & they're not technically Halloween really.

I love rubber ducks too, but now it seems like they're EVERYWHERE so I've become VERY particular about the ones I but I saw these guys & HAD to buy them. I know Ozzy is exactly Halloween but his is THE PRINCE OF F***KING DARKNESS so I figure he counts.

I have the Jaws "Bruce" and the Ghostbuster "Slimer" ones. Weirdly, both ducks are in the mouths vs being the character. So, I feel sorry for the ducks but thought they also looked so sweet and innocent. Strange... I know... They have never been opened because I'm still trying to figure out why I bought them ha ha! Haven't been over there in months so curious what they have now though. I've seen Ozzy but not the others.

They had a bunch of horror ones, Pennywise, Chucky, Beetlejuice, & Michael Meyers. I bought my husband Naruto too. I HATE that show with the white hot heat of a thousand suns but he loves it so much. I got him the duck & a Naruto Pez.

Oh my gosh a skelly axolotl!!!
How fricking adorable and unique. The hedgehog too. I can't find a listing for it yet but at least with the axolotl when the website goes live with inventory that should be the store to hit up for halloween in general.
