Here is the new thread for 2025. Distortions Unlimited has posted two new props so far this year. I’m sure will see lots more as we get closer to the Transworld 2025 Show
He's awesome! My electric zombie arrived. The internal poles are metal not pvc and when the wires light, they are really bright. It's a great prop.

As I wrote in the other thread, I would just watch a bunch of YouTube videos on people who own this particular prop and hear what they have to say about it as well as what Distortions has to say about the Mutant. I remember on one video Ed said they made all their thrashing props to withstand the violent motion. These are props made for professional haunted houses which I would imagine have high high traffic and these props must run for hours at a time. I don’t know how many people you get and how long you will have that prop working. I know from having their Frightronics range, a fancy word for saying things that run with electrical current only, that these props prefer to be on a flat solid ground. I would imagine the same would be for the Mutant with his violent thrashing. Distortions is always very helpful with any questions and if you email them, they typically respond quickly and, in my case, I’ve always been able to reach them on the phone without a problem.Has anybody purchased the Mutant animatronic? What's your satisfaction been, and how long have you owned it? Thinking seriously about getting this, but with the compressor included I'm likely going to shell out ~$6,000 total (!) I have a yard haunt, so I would need to keep him inside a covered canopy (he's too tall to fit inside the haunt portion in my garage). My worry is, what happens if he breaks due to overuse, even in the first season? It says it's warrantied for 1 year, but round trip shipping to Distortions for repairs would be pretty cost-prohibitive. I'm getting older (21 years at my home haunt) and won't be doing this forever, so if I'm ever going to bite the bullet and get a big Distortions prop, this is the one and this is the time. Any advice here?
Thanks. There actually aren't that many YouTube videos I could find of owners describing or rating this prop they bought. I've been asking Janene at Distortions a lot of questions, but was hoping to hear if anyone else on this thread own him and what their experience has been.As I wrote in the other thread, I would just watch a bunch of YouTube videos on people who own this particular prop and hear what they have to say about it as well as what Distortions has to say about the Mutant. I agree, not many will become on the version of mutant you’re getting. Both the air compression and the mutant legend are incredible props! Thanks. Sorry about the trade wars! It's pretty much out of my range now, with the Canadian dollar falling, shipping costs and Distortions raising their prices by so much. I bought the Pumpkin Witch last year at this time for $790 CAD and it's almost 20% more, so $939. Then shipping was another $100 USD and that's probably more this year. So last year's model prop is over $1,000. The only "good" thing was it was duty free, but who knows if that will change with a retaliatory trade war.
Omg! Over $700 to ship.Sorry about the trade wars!
Disclaimer: I am a big DU fan. I have the hanging bat guy, the 6' alien, the dead laying alien, the autopsy alien, the mutant spider (may be forgetting someone!). I have spent lots of $$ but have loved it all. Good quality props even outdoors in the (sometimes hot) Georgia Octobers, for the entire month. The last two years we've had an entire section of the yard dedicated to the aliens because they are such crowd-pleasers.
Here is my current woe with Distortions: My husband bought me the 12' static alligator as my mother's day present on 5/3 of this year. 6-8 weeks went by and nothing received and no emails received. That was ok, it was only July. But I finally reached out around week 10 and they said we'd be in touch in 1-2 weeks with a shipping date. Over 2 weeks passed and nothing. So my husband reached out and they said it should ship on 8/1-8/4. But they also said freight shipping would be over $700. 🤢 This was alarming to me. I know it's a huge prop but every SINGLE item I've purchased from them has been free shipping (bigger ones being the 6' standing alien and the hanging bat - not huge, but pretty big as they are one piece and do not disassemble). Also, their "shipping" section of their website is literally blank. This is somewhere that should address shipping costs for oversized props. $700+ is almost 40% the cost of the prop itself. I am a bit disappointed. Told my husband he could've gone the normal route and gotten me a piece of jewelry for the same price and no shipping 🤭 just kidding - not really my style.
Awwww, look at those little faces! These two monsters will be joining our crew this year. I missed out on the mummy and the goblin. Please welcome Dustee and Mutinee!

Best advice when ordering is always order several months in advance from them. Ordered my prop 3.5 months ago . Still isn’t here , no updates . I’d advise ordering 5+ months in advance if you want things to be ready for start of October .Everything they've released so far this year looks amazing. I really like the Goblin Legend, but you've got to have the right theme for him to fit into and I just don't have it. But the Demon Legend, so hard keeping my wallet shut for that guy.
