What do you think of illumibot, especially if you're in the UK?

For the past few years, I have used AtmosFX projections in all three front windows of my house, mainly for security and also to protect against the weather. I only display them on Halloween night.

A few weeks ago, I received an email from AtmosFX promoting Illumibot, which looks amazing. My house would suit it, as it's painted off-white, although it has both a two-storey and a single-storey frontage. So, full projection mapping would be the next step, but I don't have much time for traditional methods, so the Illumibot with its AI seems promising.

My question is, has anyone (consumers who have purchased) set up Illumibot themselves, and particularly, has anyone from the UK bought the system? If so, what do you think of it?

Pictures and/or videos of your setup and display would be appreciated.

I have some thoughts on this subject, but I am FAR from knowledgeable about the product. :)

I've seen Illumibot booths at Transworld, as well as their partnering with AtmosFX and Frightmaps. Their presentations leave me with more questions than answers. I'd need to see it in the wild, honestly. The demos I've seen show all flat-fronted houses in level ground with no trees or other obstructions. I have a lot of props in my yard, and I worry about: 1. Will my props hinder or shade the experience, and 2. Will my props get washed out. I'm also wondering how it would affect all of the lighting I do.

TBH it feels more like something commercial, yet they are marketing it to residential. I just don't think the use case is there. For someone like me who has a lot of props, I'm not interested in replacing everything I have with AI video clips. AtmosFX compliments my haunt-- it doesn't replace it.

They also don't do a great job of explaining what it is/how it works/etc. I see the unboxing videos, but nobody really setting it up in their yard. It has to be paired with other things (like projectors, waterproofing, etc). Just feels more like a DMX-type setup. It's not plug and play-- looks to me like a fairly significant learning curve.

In all, I'm intrigued. But I feel like they've rushed this to market vs. making it more user-friendly.

Hi @The Saw Is Family,

Thanks for your reply.

I believe the Illumibot will keystone and enable you to map irregular and multi-depth houses. I no longer place props in the garden, nor do I have any other shading, so I am not worried about how the Illumibot will interact with anything other than the house. Here in the UK, we decorate for only one night; therefore, a full projection that is relatively simple to set up and then remove would be beneficial.

I agree that they've rushed the market. I would hope that someone can create a base map and only need to subscribe for one month to develop the new show.

I would like to see more domestic use of Illumibot and a UK supplier for the correct 240V power, and for warranty purposes.
