Great pictures of those wheels! I been getting ready to approach some of the members who offered to teach projects and I'm gonna talk to Terra to see who she thinks we should ask to do a small project from the list of offers we have. Also still deciding who to approach for the hearse.

Here's some pics of how far I've gotten. This isn't a time consuming project, I just don't have room in the garage to work on it and my sloping driveway would make it a pain.

The pics cover the framing for the deck, the legs and how to cut out your windows.

Hopefully, I be albe to get it out and work on it some more this weekend

Scatterbrains I been off of here for awhile, went on vacation for 2 weeks the day after halloween, came home to a lot of work to do as we left all the decorations up in the house before leaving & you know me....most of my haunt is in the house!

Just wanted to say Bravo!! your hearse looks great!!

Count me in

Hi, I'm a newcomer in this forum. I already started my project since the skeletal horse is almost completed. All there is left to do is to apply a faux fini to age the bones.
I will likely start the hearse construction somewhere in July.
Please not that I had to scale the project down to a 60% scale due to my front yard configuration.

Change it up once again

Ok so with every project, if you don't go and start it and just let it stew, well that's what it does. The hears has been stewing. I recently (yesterday) built a temp dance floor for my cousins wedding, when the wedding is over, the dance floor will become my hears, or most of at least.

This got me thinking about my design, and how I wanted to make it unique, so I had to change it up, it started with just the doors.

Their inspiration is minions web and his gate, which is awesome. I'm trying to contact him to see if he doesn't mind.

Then the side panel is all out of my head and just wanted something different. I was trying to make it look like the wings are coming out of the skull if you're looking at it from the right angle.

Course this is missing the wheels and "axels", the lights and some column pieces plus all the little decorative flourishes, but it gives me an idea of where I really want to go with this.

To make it easy it's an 8'x4' hearse, to limit the amount of cuts and it will be bolted together for easy dissassembly

Hearse accessories

Hi all,
I wanted to show you the papier mache vulture I'm working on to place on top of my (future) hearse: This was inspired by Lucky Luke cartoons and the technique used is from Stolloween web stie (http://www.stolloween.com/).

By the way Empty w. your hearse sketch is pretty impressive, good job !

Wagon wheels

Hi all hearse lovers & builders,
I just finished my wagon wheels last week and I'm gonna start the hearse frame next week-end.
The inspiration for the plywood wheels came from many different places and people namely Scatterbrains in this forum and the Swansbrough manor's web site (http://www.swansbroughmanor.com).
As you'll see on the pictures, my wagon wheels are made of 2 layers of 3/4" plywood, the spokes were cut with a jigsaw and then rounded over with a router. I had to trim the ends manually with carving tools though. I also added fake hubs (turned on a wood lathe) to get a more realistic look.
Please note that due to my front yard shape and space available and the size of my toe pinch coffin I had to scale down the hearse to 60% of the actual 4x8' size, so the wheels are 32" (16 spokes) and 24" (12 spokes).

You bet

cutting out the wheels is a very time consuming job indeed. I'd say that beside the layout, the lathe and the painting portion, the jigsaw and router (completed manually with carving chisels and a rasp) part must be anywhere from at least 2 to 3 hours each wheel.
Your technique looks faster and must produce more precise cuts, I didn't know you could do that kind of work with a radial arm saw !

Say Bob, do you happen to have a rear view of your hearse ? That would help me very much with my construction since I don't have a clue for that part of the hearse.
