In another life I wanted to start a Halloween village. I bought a few pieces but it never came to fruition. It's for the best, since I can't afford all of it.

 

Same here, I also don't have the space for one.

Yet a couple years ago my cousin started me on the Nightmare Before Christmas village so I have those & I've only put them up once because, as I said, space. I love it, I'm not adding to it, but there's also part of me that wants to get ALL THE PIECES so I gotta stop myself.

I also store them in their original boxes so that takes up storage space too. Like I said, I do love it, but it's such a hassle to put up & get right. I have ONE space to put it & I don't always want to use that space for it.

 

I actually really like the haunted house this year. I too am trying to be logical. It doesn't fit with my traditional colour scheme, and yet I want it. I'm already a miniature artist so I could make mini pieces to compliment it...

 

I really like the Haunted House too!!! I've seen your miniature pieces you've made in the past and they are amazing. Cannot wait to see you do this year.

 

I have never owned any type of village pieces but the haunted house and the movie theater may convince me!

 

I was surprised to see Halloween from Michaels in April but it looks like they are offing a goth/romance collection inspired by Wednesday Addams. Here's the link: Nevermore | Michaels

I took a trip to Michaels today and spotted some pieces from the Nevermore Collection!

 

 

Stopped by today to check out the Nevermore Collection. Display was not yet fully set. The planogram had an exit day for the 5th of July. It must be a pre-Halloween theme

 

I just got an email from Michaels & they call this "Whimsigoth." I don't hate it yet I don't love all of it either.

 

 

I picked up this planter today. 50% off and a voucher meant she was $5. I think I can spookify her pretty easily! She reminded me of the Victorian looking women on the gravestones Home Depot has put out recently.

Blessing in disguise, the next day [last night] the arches I wanted went on sale for $11.99, so I grabbed 4.

The only odd part now is that Michael's is shipping them all separately, so I have 4 packages en route.

added so it priced it down to almost 50% off which is honestly the best I'm going to get with how poor inventory is stocked at stores it's always like 2 of everything so nothings comes up for in-store pickup orders (and I don't want to do a driving circus around town as Michael's seem to be placed near the worst road infrastructure. Man I sure do love sitting in the turn lane for stoplight rounds b/c the timer only lets 2 cars go at a time 🤪).

 

Note to self: Michael's website inventory is not very accurate. Understandable, given all the moving parts, but still a bummer. I order 4 of those arches and they were only able to ship 3 before they were all sold out online. My project needs 4, so if I can't get 1 more before the line is done I might have to return these.

So aside from that that last one not shipping....you might get different arches in the trio.
Maybe we can do an arch swap once everything arrives (I ordered 4, to put 2 pairs over the door jamb to the master bath and master closet--mine all say shipped).

EDIT: I actually have an in-store pickup from the 50% off coupon sale. Today's my last day, I asked my bestie if I could she could order it on my behalf since I already used the coupon on my account and she did and I venmoed her the $. Let's see what it ends ups being ^^;

 

Arch pickup successful, it was the 14.5" one and that's the one they gave me. No other arches on the shelf. I'm going to stop by my two local ones (as the one I went to was on the far south east side of the city...and the only one that had more than 3 for in-store pickup to be listed as available at the time) to see if they have any arches.

I showed 1 in Park City so I grabbed it for in-store pickup. Crossing my fingers that they actually have it in stock. If so, I will send it your way.

I have someone in the area picking it up for me today. So consider it an official backup.

 

On my desk at work. If I end up keeping it, I will make a mold and use that throughout my haunt.

 

I'm going to see how well I can use one of mine as a stencil on some XPS foam. If I can make a bunch more, I'll seal them and use them outside on my porch windows or on the sides of my garage door.

 

I called all 6 stores, none have inventory. One store said their internal system says they have 2 but when the guy went to check the selves with me on the phone he couldn't see them and thinks they got stolen. (wouldn't be surprised, it's a high theft area, the adjacent parking lot has one of those mobile police camera stations)

 

Talked to the manager at a newly built store. He said there's a manager's meeting for Michael's too but it's not as fancy at Home Depot. Said that their Halloween line is supposed to be set starting July 6th. And that Christmas is supposed to be set by Oct 19.

He said the Nevermore line was Michael's test to see if Halloween is profitable outside of the holiday and they are looking to stock 'spooky' year round. Halloween is their 2nd biggest seller (1st is obv christmas). And that stores only received 1 shipment with Nevermore and will not restock whatsoever. The arches we're looking for, he said the PDQ is 2. As in each store only got 2 of each arch. No wonder it sold out online.

The company is also wanting to push more diversity so they will be having more into the rotation. Pride & Juneteenth are getting releases. Diwali and Eid are expected to come.

 

And that stores only received 1 shipment with Nevermore and will not restock whatsoever. The arches we're looking for, he said the PDQ is 2. As in each store only got 2 of each arch. No wonder it sold out online.

If that is the case, I probably won't ever get the 4th. I'll need to return 1 and revert to my plan of using 2 in my living room and, for my windows, I'll use one as a stencil and make as many as I want out of XPS.
