A couple of weeks ago one of our members was asking what they could do with an old satellite dish they had. I can't find the thread now but it got me thinking about the old dish I have. This is what I decided to do with one that I have. I made it into a zombie detector. As you can tell it isn't finished as the "Zombie Detector" logo is just a piece of paper I scotch taped onto the dish that will be painted on later and I need to put some other finishing touches on it. But this is just a quick, down and dirty first look. It was pretty cheap to build. Just some scrap wood I had, a can of spray paint, a lazy susan from walmart, the old dish, some screws, a wiper motor and a motor controller, and some aluminum flat stock I already had. The power source is a 12v 5am power supply from ebay. The whole thing cost about $54.00. I would have used a reindeer motor as the dish moves very easily but I used my last one to animate Skeleton Bob, my comedy skeleton, and as luck would have it two new wiper motors arrived in the mail as I was building this.

Look great! As usual, fantastic job! By the way, nice garage mad-scientist laboratory you have there.

One thing before I go...................it would be so neat if you had some sort of zombie detector gauge that would move when the satellite moves. In my mind, the quick and easy method would be to mount the gauge on the pole holding the satellite (the gauge would extend out from the pole). Then make a zombie meter sign out of cardboard or preferably a thin panel that you could bend. The sign would be in front of your satellite wood mount (the circle at the bottom) and would also have the same arc as the circle. Thus, the sign would be static but the gauge would move as the pole moves. Just a silly idea that came to mind as I watched your riveting video.

Lovely Day...

Thanks iggyman. I am always open to suggestions.:D. I am planning on adding some other stuff to the detector. I am thinking of wiring my treat box scare to this and putting instructions saying to open the box to access the controls for the detector. When the box lid open the horn alarm sounds.

Yeah, that isyou barn. I call it the Haunted Forest idea factory. My wife calles it the death trap. Lol

Thanks Dave. I actually hadn't planned on making anything new this year but wicked grandma and I were sitting outside a couple of nights ago and counted up 8 new props I made this year. Once you make that first one you just can't stop. So much for cutting back...lol.
