Here is a cool project that we did recently. It was dead easy and a lot of fun. It looks amazing hanging above our Halloween bookcase, and the cats sit in a trance-like state watching the bat tick by on the second hand...they're bewitched!

First we bought a clock from TJ Maxx. Then took it apart...being mindful of how the hands would need to go back on. Next, we traced out a circle on cardboard that fit the face of the clock and used a dremel to make a hole where the spindle of the clock mechanism goes. I then painted the sky, moon and flying witch silhouette, numbers and lettering. We then glued the face over the existing one and weighted it down to assure a good bond. While the glue was drying I painted and cut out a tiny bat, which I then glued to the second hand. Lastly, the mister replaced all parts, glass cover, put in batteries, etc. Seeing the clock come to life was enchanting! I had SO much fun with this easy and functional project. I hope someone will be willing to try it! I would love to see what all these brilliant and creative minds on here come up with!

That is some great artwork you do. Do you have an airbrush to get those cloud effects? Or just dab cotton balls in white paint and dab on?

Thank you all! I seriously had so much fun doing this! My dear husband found the clock at TJ Maxx ($7.99) and he did all the mechanics and assembly. I had all the paints already and researched witch silhouette images. The clouds were done with a flat fabric brush. I would love to try to create another clock using decoupaged images/numbers. Maybe an Elvgren 'Flying High' witch? Oh the possibilities! <|:)

Ok, got me interested enough that had to go check clocks at big lots. Problem was they had a lot to choose from. The basic is 5.00, but they had this big one that looked old and would be perfect to paint on symbols and it was 12.00. Decisions decisions!
