Its operated by a single pneumatic cylinder (3/4" x 8") the frame is made from alum flat bar and a 3/8" dia alum rod. Its mounted on two 10' steel pipes. I used VSA to control the whole routine, which starts with the fly crank ghost in the crypt...then it stops and there is a bell strik when one spot light goes on, a second gong with a second spot light then the wings open on the third gong followed by "dear guests do come in" then it loops back to the fcg. I wanted it high but I was almost too high as some didn't notice it so I either need to lower it next year or use brighter spot lights to draw attention to it. As for the body its a hanging reaper I got from k-mart on clearance.

Thanks for the explanation. So, from what I'm gathering you did linkage similar to this? The wings themselves have a hinged metal skeleton that the 10' bar expands and collapses as the cylinder is activated? (Sorry for the cheesy whiteboard diagram).
