I conceded that I had to do a scaled back haunt this year because of work, so everything went up today and a little bit more tomorrow. Truth be told, it's nice to go simpler. It will still be great for the tots.
I consider scaling down every year. But it seems to always go in the other direction. I end up adding something new every year. Now I am at the point of removing something every time I add something new. It's so hard to retire props. I struggle with replacing props unless they are damaged beyond repair.
I was up until 6 am yesterday with stuff. I have light placement tonight, one more pipe to cut for the second fog machine, two more 4-port RCA jacks to solder, 8 lights to solder to the RCA connections, one 7' wormzoid of death to paint, two 7' wormzoid of death's mouths to paint then heat gun dry then put teeth in, one wormzoid TOT victim to paint blood on, two light holders to build, 15 foot long rebar stakes to cut for the fence, put in the stakes, put out the fence pieces which are already done, put the 1/2" rope into the fence, cut one skull in half for my Starbuck's sign, put together the starbuck's sign PVC frame, put lights on the starbucks sign, fingerpaint blood text onto the starbucks sign, paint all of my remaining bones for bone pile in front of Starbucks sign...

Yeah. I think that's most of it. I'll be doing it right up through tomorrow afternoon.
Not scrambling. Sitting here twiddling my thumbs. Everything is done. :D :D :D {just 'pickin'}

Actually, I just wanted to stop in here & say 'HEY, Sid!!!' Long time no see. Good to see you on the forum. :) Missed your crazy-a$$. :)
I would be scrambling, but I just finished fixing my garbage disposal that exploded and threw tiny bits of food and a lot of water all over my kitchen. But I got my graveyard sign up, so I got that going for me.

Tomorrow it rains (and maybe snows), but my neighborhood is doing ToT on Saturday, so with any luck, I'll get everything else up on Saturday.
Just making sure I have enough lights and extension cords but it might all be for not. We are supposed to be getting rain all day changing to snow by the evening. If that happens the pumpkin will go out and that's it. Bummerrrrrr
same here extra cords rearanging the lights fixing some minor scratches
I had hoped to get started tonight, but that's not happening.
I've been scrambling a good part of the day. Last minute addition that I needed to wait till it was dark to test. Needed to slap together and paint a shelf, that now has to dry and cure in the garage. Ahhhh, paint fumes.

Wait. What are we talking about?

My brother, who was supposed to help me out Sunday, bailed on me, so I've been slowly but steadily getting things set up. I made a lot of progress today; I built new upgraded hot embers for my cauldron creep, and did 2 coats of Drylok on my 3 new tombstones. Tomorrow morning I'll start putting up the cemetery fence.

Just finished for tonight. Put in about 10 hours today getting the lighting out and finishing up the graveyard. Tomorrow is the mad rush. Fog machines, chillers, last of the props, more spider webs, run a couple more extension cords, torches, more spider webs, beer!

I actually feel somewhat lucky, this is the first time in three years I haven't cused like a drunken sailor and beat my head against the wall trying to get Light O Rama to work right. Great, I just cursed myself!!!!!!

Did I say MORE SPIDER WEBS? Oh, and BEER!!!!!
we had 55 mph winds and tore $#!* up, slender broke in half, the butler lost his mid section (he is now a midget) the wraith almost lost his head, the witches are bald and hats are gone.....just got done reviving the dead and it looks okay
Scrambling all week but, tonight I am also working on the final projection adjustments plus my fence / path lights went out, so why not....got those working again. I went small this year but, still tiring. So far everything looks good and I am waiting on my reward.....some food!!!

Hey creeeepycathy. Good to here from you. I have to say I am extremely jealous that you aren't scrambling like all of us. Enjoy the leisure time.

Last 2 nights we built the maze till midnight. That party in nov 1 but me may open it up halloween now.

Running out of proper lighting. Could use 2 more bigger props. For the nov 1 party we will have 9-10 actors.

My stalk about is done too

I put my cemetery out on Halloween day otherwise the tombstones may get wrecked. The neighbors are on evening #4 of partying and I don't want to take any chances with my stuff. I have been getting things ready and dragging stuff up from the basement so I don't have as much to do tomorrow and then someone is going door to door delivering pamphlets about how all Halloween events will be at the community hall d/t all the cougar sightings. Of course I want the kids to be safe and I am wondering how many kids I will get tomorrow.

I hung my ghost and crashing witch and got things ready for my grave digger and I will finish decorating the yard tomorrow because even if lots of town kids don't go door to door we usually get lots of kids in town from all the small outlying villages so I know I will have some TOTers. They may not know that we have been getting warnings about the cougars so we will have to let them know when they come to be more careful and alert and stay away from unlit areas. We have had a huge problem with way more bears and cougars than usual this year. I think it is because of the forest fire that was nearby this summer and also all the natural gas pipelines being put in and other work in the bush. It is forcing the wildlife down to lower ground.

Stay safe everyone and have a wonderful Halloween.

Marie
