Hi all, I've tried my hand at making a pirate crate using a cardboard box and EVA foam, and have been happy with the results, thanks to the tutorials I've come across here!
My dilemma is that I'm not certain how to accomplish the "lettering" or stenciling of said crate (and its forthcoming fellow crates!), and was hoping someone could direct me to a website, or share the type of font that I can use for making these things look authentically "piratical".

the base latex coat was applied, and then a wash coat of General finishes mahogany gel stain mixed with paint thinner. I used the wire brush technique from Kindo's casket build, only my brush was a nylon brislte, bringing out a finer grain; weathering is yet to be applied.

First off, you should always use the East India Company's logos (image attached for reference) because pirates loved stealing from them. It looks cool and foreign and stolen!

Second, how do you intend to apply it? Laser printer iron-on? Sprayed stencil? Hand painted?

Third, you can go to 1001fonts.com and find a font called Arr Matey BB as that one looks real nice, and after you distress it some will look great:

I'd check Pinterest. I did a Google search of: Pirate Crate Symbol and the above image came up.

Thanks, guys! Your experience, and your willingness to share it, is priceless! I'm thinking I'd try stenciling, as that seems the most realistic method of application from back in the day. Now to get started!!

Okay, so I've decided to free-hand this logo, and have used the references provided here (again, many thanks Brian316 and rmayer121 !), since I don't have my computer hooked up to a printer right now and aven't the patience to wait--
Here's my attempt:

I think I'll use a stencil for the following crates to make it more consistent.

Yes, this is exactly what I need to do!

I did a fish tank stand years ago. I burnt it on with a wood burning tool. I used the picture online but cut it out with a die cutter.
