Alright, Time to talk Haunts for 2015!
Post your haunt ideas and your theme down bellow for all of us to see!

Here is mine

It's called Apocalyptic Dungeon. I came up with this because of the fact that dungeons are always so creepy and scary (well not to me

Love the idea of an apocalyptic dungeon! Never really seen a dungeon theme before, but just the sound of one is creepy. Looking forward to you haunt. We're changing it up a bit, moving more towards an old haunted house and stepping away from the graveyard side of things. Drawing some inspiration from a local haunt (below).

My Haunt for 27 years has been The Ravens Grin Inn.. but maybe it will become"The Raven's Comedy Club'. Or maybe just "Ravens Comedy Club?"
I do spend most of my time here entertaining people, making them sometimes scream or jump, just a little bit as they might be laughing the rest of the time.
I have had a number of patrons here ask me to stop making them laugh! .. Because their face hurts! YES! their face hurts!
Of course then I just make them laugh some more!
I also can spend much time here telling them ghost stories about this house (True ones) and of course I can tell them silly or serious,or for kids or for adults.
I guess that I'm pretty flexible... for a guy my age!

I'm going for something easy this year and doing Nightmare Before Christmas. It will consist of painted cutouts of many of the characters interspersed with lots of lighted pumpkins, string lights, and beef net spider webs. I'll still use my pvc cemetery fence and probably add a "Halloween Town" sign.

I'm doing Hocus Pocus / The Sanderson Sisters. Lots of other witchy things. I've never done anything with Witches before outdoors and in my opinion they are The Queen of Halloween so I thought I should pay my respects. Haha....

Since I've been skunked on multiple themes over the last couple of years due to weather, I am not sure I should even post my theme for fear it, too, will be jinxed by the rain and wind and snow gods just like the others were! If I were a betting person who likes a longshot, I'd put money on "Four Funerals and a Wedding" or "Museum of Oddities."

Because I've had to scrap so many themes at the last minute, I should be able to pick one at the last minute after I have input on the weather. Most of this year will be spent building and repairing general purpose props rather than worrying too much about those which are theme-specific.

^ why do those feel like famous last words?!

Man, I really don't know. I guess we will stay with the Haunted Graveyard theme since we're fairly restricted with size. Last year the theme varied some, but since all the scareactors bailed, I actually couldn't man all the props and scenarios since it was just Rose and me. Plus my next door neighbor is crazy about lights. He goes crazy with Christmas lights, and last year he put out so many strings of orange, purple and green lights that it totally overwhelmed the creepy feeling we were trying for next door. This October should be totally outrageous since Halloween is on a Saturday night (The Best!). But I'm going to really have to give this one some thought.

I hadn't even thought of a neighbor's excessive lighting ruining one's haunt ambiance. That's unfortunate!

Climate is a big issue here. ToTs are few, so our party is the Halloween event at our place. Even if it doesn't pour rain or snow, and even if the wind doesn't carry off my outdoor decor, it's still apt to be cold enough that guests won't want to hang out outdoors for long. We have a big yard, and I could do so much if I could count on decent weather. Instead, most of the decorating will have to be contained indoors.

I do a series of themes in different parts of the house, but I try to make a flow rather than an abrupt change at each doorway (Victorian/Gothic elements in the main areas that lead to Dracula's room and to the Mad Scientist's lab...) Every year there's something new, but also some things stay the same.

My new plan for this year is a bayou area in our large upstairs sunroom. It looks spectacular in my head, but I'm well aware that my head is giving me about 50% more space to work with than what I actually have.

I read that as "a neighbor's excessive *fighting*" and I was thinking of the people that live behind us...

Looking forward to seeing your bayou, ooojen! I always thought of doing that if we ever got a house, but have never thought of trying it indoors... hmm...

I'm going all ghosts, ghosts, and ghosts...with a huge front cemetery with assorted ghosts, ghouls and long leggedy beasties. Did I mention that the front porch is going to be black lit? (this was my dream for 2014 that never happened) I will have an animated skeleton in a coffin that greets each group of TOT's that arrive (thanks to help from three of my forum friends, Bobzilla, Halstaff and Dead Things). So picture this front porch, covered with glowing ghosts and a HUGE cemetery that is the front yard......

Might be lame, but I'm doing a Buffy themed graveyard. Never had a theme before, just threw decorations where they looked good. Always wanted to do tombstones, but this area gets bitterly cold, lots of rain and wind in October, and I was always worried about my decorations ending up in the next county, but I've seen some tombstone designs that have PVC pipe built in to slip down over rebar, and that might actually work. The hubs got me an airbrush for our anniversary and some paints for it for Christmas so he's on board. Going to look into some RGB lighting as well. It's going to be an experimental year.

Pumpkin5 that is a gorgeous area to haunt!!! Love the ghost idea and the cemetery. Can't wait to see what you do.

LadyMage, nothing is lame if it is related to Halloween fun!!!! I am not really familiar with the Buffy series, but it will be fun.
I am wanting to expand my cemetery. At the moment it is just small cheesy and cheap stones and a small plastic flower bed border. I have one large stone that I made last year for the Wicked Witch of the West. It is a large heavy duty Styrofoam chest with holes in it for rebar. I want to expand and have many like this for famous wizards, witches and fortune tellers.

I try and do a different theme every year. I have not decided on this yet but was thinking about finally doing zombies. I would hire some teenagers from around the hood and pay them $25 each to "work" from 6-9 however.... I enjoy scaring the haunters and not being a professional make-up artitst, I feel that the lack of realism in the makeup would not go over well. I am reluctant to try this.
