My only TOT complaint this year?

Very few TOTs said thank you- and most of those had to be prompted by parents saying, "What do you say...?"

What about you guys?

The only ones that I noticed that didn't say thank you, were also then ones that didn't say "trick of treat". Mostly due to sensory overload. My next door neighbor does the "shock" (not to gory though) Halloween. So if they hit his house first, the are nervous (if tiny ToT's). I think I said thank you more than I heard it, but to compliments.

My kids were beaming last night because of how many people complimented their good manners! I was one proud mama! Most of ours said thank you though, especially the teens!

My toddler had to be prompted to saying thank you, but he's 2, so.....

Most of my ToTers were very polite, even going so far as to wish us a happy Halloween before departing. A pair of them that live across the street came over and gave my son some of their own candy because we're the house on the block that gives out full sized candy bars and they wanted to show appreciation. We've got some sweet kids around here.

The best part? Absolutely nothing in my small yard display was missing or messed up this morning. No candy wrappers or other trash on my property either.

We had nice ToTs. I can't think of one that was rude.

My son at college gave out candy in his dorm. They have a ToTing program students can participate in and my son loved it.

He had about 400 ToTs go through the dorm and ran out of candy. He said very very few were nice and seemed entitled and grabby. They would grab candy instead of taking the candy he offered.

He said the nice ones made it all worth it. They were cute and sweet.

Most of ours were polite. at least the ones that stuck around to get the candy. We did a small walk thru haunt, only about twenty five feet long and I was surprised at how many came out running and did not bother to stop for candy. It was a blast.

I had about half of my TOT's say thank you. What really erks me though is when they don't say Trick or Treat. They just stand in front of you and look at you. AWKWARD!!! Im always nice though and give them just as much candy and send em off with a "Happy Halloween".

Every one of ours were very polite even they teeny tiny ones, and had one say your welcome.LOL she was a bit confused but very cute so I said Thank you.LOL

I only had nine tot's this year because of the weather, so I don't have much to go on...but mine were polite this year. There were some that were quiet, though, and didn't talk...but weren't rude or grabby. I will say, though, that I hardly ever hear them say Trick or Treat any more, which is so sad.
Honestly, I was just glad to not have another group of adults standing on the sidewalk yelling to the adult, that was with kids at the door, to make sure to get them some candy, too, in a somewhat demanding manner. That kind of made me angry last year, but I was nice and gave them some anyway in the several bags the lady thrust out towards me...the adults are so much worse than the kids anymore...how can the kids learn to be polite and thankful with adults like that raising them??

I live on the north side of Pittsburgh and have some 'projects' 5 blocks away so get a lot of kids from there. Due to cold and rainy conditions I only got half the normal total of TOT. For being kids growing up in that environment, and just being city kids in general, I was VERY pleased with the manners the kids displayed. Sure, there was a handful that just walked up the drive with a bag open and left, but most were enthusiastic and polite as can be. Got a few parents complimenting my setup and thanking me as well so overall another successful Halloween.

I love when the kids and adults compliment my yard decor...some of my nine ToT's did tell me how much they liked my yard. It feels good. I had another that was excited that I gave out treat bags of stuff. That was nice, too. It's nice to know the care I put into my little treat bags is noticed and appreciated.

My wife does the candy and makes them say "Trick or Treat" to get the candy and nearly all said "Thank You" afterwards. Quite a few said thank you and Happy Halloween after going through the haunt too.

Most were very polite, "trick or treat!", "we love your yard!", etc, etc.

I had a few younger ones that didn't even look at me when they put out their pail, they were making sure nothing in the yard was coming to get them.

The CD I had playing has a part that says "Are you scared? Are you scared enough???!!!"

One little tyke dressed up as a monkey ran behind his mother, clung to her leg, and said "Mommy, I don't want any candy if we can go now." We all laughed and he got two handfuls from us.

I wasn't handing out candy this year so I'm not sure, but I did go out with my little sister (who is 11) and she always says thank you unprompted, since we stress manners in my family. I noticed a lot of the other TOTers were similar unless they were very young. I was really happy with the positive atmosphere in my neighborhood last night.

We had fewer this year, & almost all of them said "Thank You". Most had to be prompted to say "TOT" though, but they seemed distracted by the ghoulies in the bushes, so that may have been why lol.

Wow! I'm glad that most of you heard TYs all night. Our kids weren't at all rude, rather just very very quiet. Maybe it was sensory overload- but most just took their treats in silence. Very weird. Odder still were a few kids that never really looked at anything- and there was a LOT to look at!

Have to say out TOT's were great too! We were a bit cruel though, although they could see the decor I don't think they realized we were having a party, so when they knocked at the door we were jumping out at them We actually made a small one cry but I made up for it as I gave him my Pirate cutlass! So his tears suddenly turned to joy!

I've always thought that for many of the kids, its just a matter of they are trying to run from house to house just to get the candy. At least it seems that way with the older kids. "hey, hurry up so we can get our big pillow cases completely filled with free candy!" Haaaaa.

I wanted to tag onto this and ask a question - do any of you ever ask if you can take a picture or two of the little ones? We had some really cute little kids I would have loved for my wife to see. She had to work from 3pm - 9pm; so she didn't get to see any of them.
