I need ideas as to what to do to deter theft while we have our Halloween props all up for Halloween. Years ago we had a lot of props stolen. After being outraged and upset, I threw myself into new themes for decorating the yard. I just don't want a repeat as we put so much effort in building additional props yearly to improve our theme. I honestly don't know if I have in me to do this much work a third time!:(

There are a ton of threads on here about using the $1 alarms from Dollartree (among other places) to protect props. I've posted about it a couple times myself.

Here is a video of a typical one. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aq06b3gXYSE

Hide the noise maker part in your prop, put a rubber band around the two pieces to hold the magnet in place, tie the magnet to a stake in the ground (tree, a whatever) using a thin string. When they take the prop the magnet comes off, and they are now holding a portable noise maker in the dead quiet night. Which BTW seems much louder to them as they are next to it. Thinking god and everyone must be able to hear this they drop the prop.
