I sculpted a set of crossbones over a pvc frame using crayola air-dry clay, but even after drying they feel a bit squishy and fragile. Does anyone have a recommendation of what I could use to harden / make them stronger? Looking for something that can make a more solid coat on top of the clay.

Thanks in advance!

You might try brushing on a few coats of clear deck sealer - I'd test it on a small blob of dried clay first, though, because in my experience it sometimes affects the color or just doesn't dry right depending on the surface. I've never tried it on air-dry clay, but I've used it to seal other porous surfaces and it does a nice job.

Im using that clay as base for my heads and cover them with paper towel damp in latex household paint. Drying about 2 days. But if you wait 1 or two weeks it so solid and will fills like resin scupt.
That technic from Mr Chicken Prop Shop. You may fing on youtube or Facebook.
You may also achive different textures with that technic.
If you leave Crayola clay as is-It will get harder but also i will start cracking like any other clays.
Hopefully it will help
