I have seen this valve in a few places but no one ever says specifically what type it is. Does anyone know what its called?

sorry i meant the one that he refers to as the "dump valve" behind the pressure gauge.

I think dovaka is referring to the black valve directly off the tank. That's a rapid dump valve that is pilot operated via the solenoid valve with the 1/4" air line.

yes that one, ive looked up tons of things with names similar to that and can only find air ride suspension stuff but nothing like that particular one.

It looks like it is a Humphrey Quick Exhaust valve. We use them a lot on our conveyor lines at work. QE2 is the model number

You don't need a quick exhaust for a air cannon if you are trying to recreate it. You could use a check valve. This moves the air in one direction and not allow it to go the other. It makes activation readily available by filling the tank. Air cannons are hogs of air and you can "charge" the tank and not worry about other things taking that air. The most air are used from cannons, air whips and linear slides so you should have one right before these type of props.
