It's been a while, here's the updated family of 'stones, sans moss (I'm applying that today).
I found some black craft paint powder, mixed it up, painted the letters, then used a towel to dab and drag the black highlighting. I also found that terrycloth towels do not respond well to white beaded foam. Even after the sanding I did, there's still a rough surface. The "John Yeast" stone had so much black runoff from the letters, I had to take a water hose to it and wash some of it off.
