Time to send all our Witchy Poo pals a spring wish. Walpurgis is 6 months before Halloween so what better way to get us into the Halloween spirit early in the year.

Walpurgis Night is the English translation of Walpurgisnacht. It is the night of April 30th, the eve of Saint Walpurga Day. German folklore also calls it Hexennacht or Witches' Night. It was believed witches met on the highest peak in the Harz mountains to await spring. Celebrations are held with dancing, drinking and bonfires.

Or are you more of a Beltane person - the Gaelic May Day festival held on 1 May. Special bonfires are kindled, their flames, smoke and ashes were deemed to have protective powers. Beltane is a Wiccan Sabbath Celebrated with bonfires, flowers and drink.

Interested in exchanging cards with witchy minded folks? Need a little Halloween fix to get you over the halfway to Halloween hump? A little magic spell to shake off the winter hum drums? Here's how - Post how many cards you are willing to send out and where you are willing to send them to - US only, US and Canada, Everywhere and Anywhere. Then Private Message (start a conversation) your personal info to others who have posted on this thread you want to exchange and wait with baited breath for your witchy spells to arrive. Please try to have your cards popped into the mail by April 25 so they arrive in time for Witch Night or May Day.

Ok just a tad swamped... hosting a baby shower in the park this Saturday and adopted a new great dane last Friday... Poor thing was used for breeding by less then what I'd call not very nice people. Her last litter only one supposedly survived the others had to be "removed" by the vet. She was "fostered" out a week later and adopted by us 3 weeks after that. She's starting to adjust but had some anxiety this morning when Frog went off to work, found her on Frog's desk trying to get out the window... took her hours to settle. She is a work in progress, she is rescue dane number 6 so we have high hopes she'll settle as well as the others have.

Cards are designed and hope to start work on them after the weekend so time yet for any last minute fun seekers to join in.

First card of the season Thanks so much Goth Kitty Lady for the lovely homemade card. Perfect.... As LadyFrog said the weather here has been unreal. Last weekend we did the baby shower in a park thanks the good witch it had a great picnic shelter... we had bouts of sun, rain, hail and afterwards when we got home to unload the party supplies it snowed, we almost NEVER get snow here not even in the darkest days of winter let alone in April. Sunday morning we actually had traces of snow the stuck and again on Monday. Yesterday it hailed again.

What a surprise I got last night. Went out to do my chores and what to a find a single baby turkey peeping outside the hay shed... lo and behold we had a mama turkey sitting just inside the who hatched out 10, the remaining 7 eggs are in the incubator to give them a chance... mama and babes are in a brood pen to keep the little ones safe, as mama's will roam far and wide and babes will get lost or worse. Pictures will be coming.

I got a card from Stinkerbell and Frog Prince today, thank you! Where were the cemeteries you used for these photos?
I try to put a note on the backs of the photos where it was taken should someone want to pull the photos off to look. This set of photos were taken this past March in Eastern Washington on a short get away camping trip. The outside photo was taken at the Guarding Angels Cemetery in Moses Lake. The inside photo was taken at the Menno Cemetery near Ritzville. I think we visited about 12 cemeteries over that weekend.

They were telling me a lot of hotels are hauted - please send any of interest
I can't say the hotel we stayed in when we attended a wedding before Covid but there is a LOT of history in the town. Here's a link to short list of possible haunted places.
Port Townsend has a number of cemeteries too Laurel Grove is a favorite and Redman across the street. Fort Worden and Fort Townsend are worth exploring. Fort Flagler was a favorite to camp at and explore. A ferry ride, you can catch a walk on passage in PT to Fort Casey to check out the lighthouse. Have fun.

Next exchange will be starting soon - Red White and Dead - 4th of July, summer or for the more adventurous we have -

July 7 - Festival of the Handmaidens ( roman)
July 10 - Day of Hel or the Day of Knut the Reaper ( both "holidays" Norse)

For the mummy lovers out there rumor has it July 27 is Osiris' B-day
and July 28 Horus' b-day July 30 Is Isis B-day.

Last but not least we have July 29th, the Festival of Thunor (Anglo - Saxon) and the Norse god Thor.
