Recently, I've been making plaster cloth/ paper mache masks using Mr. Chicken's YouTube tutorial.

It's a pretty simple method, although paper towels dipped in paint aren't the easiest medium to work with. The first mask I made using this technique fell apart because I didn't wait long enough for it to cure before demolding. I've made a few of these masks and I've mounted them to the wall.

My first successful mask, a mummy.

Next, I made Quasimodo. The paint job is inspired by the Don Post calendar. I made the teeth with plumber's epoxy, which I find tricky to sculpt with.

My most recent piece, a zombie. I used printed paper towels for this one to give the skin some texture.

I always love to see when people take ideas offered out there and make something uniquely theirs. Your work is wonderful and is really very inspirational for us. We had watched the video and wondered if it was a project that could be as versatile as you have proven it is. Thanks for the post.

I finished my Burial Ground zombie. I wasn't sure whether or not to put hair on, but I ended up doing it anyway. Took me a few tries to get it to look right.

We all enjoy Halloween for different reasons. Most enjoy the decorating of their homes to attract gawking TOTs, and we're not different. But we're also part of a group that love the fact that what the TOT's are gawking at was made by us. You seem to be like us in that you also enjoy creating things to fill those haunt instead of just buying them. Whether it's budget or artistic urges that motivate us, there is a great deal of satisfaction at having created what we share. Even a copy of a mask is unique because you made it. And you did a great job. Keep up the good work.
