3 weeks ago I stopped in to my local Spirit store in Lake George and wanted to buy the hovering ghost. Not in stock, gave them my number expected nothing. Got a very nice call today that it was in stock and I drove by after work using %20 off coupon as well. Could not be happier it is a great prop and nice people to deal with.

I live in California and wanted to buy the tree's that Spirit use for their displays. Two employees at two different stores went way out of their way to find a store that was too small to display their trees. The smaller store let me buy them! They even let me use my 20% off coupon!! I was impressed!

I am too very happy with the service I have gotten at Spirit. A little bit disappointed in the prop/decor section this year (last year we made a huge score on all the 50% off sales-all kinds of great props. This year, there is nothing there now that I bought last year. Large bats, Large Vulture, hanging pirate skeletons, large spider, beheaded bride) Anyhoo, went in about two weeks ago looking for Michael Myers. The had sold out the three they got the first week they opened. (I didnt know they were open, otherwise I would have been there day one to get him!) So they took my name and promised to call me when the first one came in. The other store they had were sold out too-they checked for me. So we go in last night, and even the display was gone. Then the girl working at the cash register remembered us and said she was still waiting on one for us. She also said the DM was in and trying to get one transferred from the other store. I told her we very much appreciated it and that if the other store had one in stock, we would be more than happy to drive the 15 minutes to get it. So she called and they had three and had them put one on hold for us! We picked him up today and he is great. All employees were very nice!:)

We stopped at our Spirit tonight. My wife had not been there yet and this was my 4th time. We were looking for some costume accesories for a party we're going to on the 23rd. There was a marked difference in the store atmosphere from even a week ago. They had the entire store set up with displays. A lot of the animatronics were out for people to play with, and they had more stock than before. The place was packed and people were buying! I mean big ticket items too. I saw at least two folks walk out with large animatronic props. Lots of families and kids buying costumes. I was talking to one of the clerks who said they've been very busy and have several shipments of stuff to unpack yet and are getting more in every week. It was a nice change from the previous visits where the place looked pretty empty. Oh, and I had a coupon with me so picked up one of the zombie babies for my graveyard. First prop I've bought this year. It was fun!

Just went to the Ottawa store today (2 1/2 hour drive)... Very nice display and people, but I'll see just how nice tomorrow... You see I purchased a couple of things, amongst which was a black feathered witch's hat... The guy working the cash register scanned it, put it on a box (or something) next to him, scanned all my other purchases, placed it all in a bag... except for the hat :( . I noticed it when we got home tonight..... There was a lot of people, so I was trying to take the least amount of time possible at the register to help them.... but I forgot to check if I had eveything in my bag before I left.... I will call the store manager tomorrow to see if the cash register employee recalls having put the hat next to him, and not IN the bag.... Hopefully, they will be nice enough to send it to me by mail..... I'll keep you guys posted!

As far as stores with larger props, so far Spirit has them all beat hands down this year in my area IMO. I have quite a bit of stuff purchased over the last few years and bought the farmer and wife zombies from them last year, so not really looking for much this year. I'll probably still pick up one or two things before halloween (I kind of want that scary time radio and like the hovering ghost too) and hopefully a few things afterwards. I'm fast running out of places to store stuff...otherwise....

I have always found the owners and staff to be wonderful to deal with.

I was also very pleased with our Spirit store - even if it took forever to find the one closest to us, since the Store Locator wasn't up to date. It made every other Halloween store in the area look lame.

Great news!!! :D I called the Spirit store in Ottawa today, and the cash register employee remembered us and said "Yes, you forgot your hat! We will send it to you by mail on Monday" How great is this??

I decided that I will send a Halloween card to the store manager and the employee to thank them for excellent customer service.... Too often, they only hear complaints, so I will give them something to enjoy! :)

My local Spirit of Halloween stores downsized this year right from the space they leased to the variety of decorations. Not unlike other years, I have been forced to order from Spirit online to get the items I want. However, I am happy to report that this is the first year in the past five that I had no problems with ordering online - Finally! They give me headaches each and every year.

To compensate the downsizing of Spirit in my area Party City has opened up their Halloween stores in many of the same shopping plaza's as Spirit. My guess, in an effort to strongly compete with Spirit this year. I actually found what I was looking for at the Party City Halloween stores, and the prices overall were cheaper.

Same as last year

I asked the guy at the Spirit counter if he had any full size skeletons (after waiting till this week for them to open the store) and he took me to the back and handed me a bag of bones.....not very bright. You'd think they would give the kids a little basic training or at least teach them to spell Halloween correctly.

After looking around and seeing that there was nothing new and that everything else was way overpriced (even with my 20% off coupon) I went back to our local Party-On Halloween Mania store and got some great deals. I did the same thing last year thinking that maybe thing would improve at Spirit but no.

Then I saw Spirits bogus YouTube video about a petition trying to change Halloween to fall on Saturdays to try and increase business and thought to myself hmmmm maybe they need to fix their business before trying to screw up Halloween forever.

I signed the other petition to prevent them from changing Halloween and that's the last time Spirit will see me again.
