I think the non food idea is great, Target has a dollar area you get all kinds of goodies in that area for cheap, most of it plastic......plastic is petroleum, petroleum comes from animals right?, is that a no-no for vegans?

I'd go non-food too. We've handed out mini jars of Play-Doh in the past. The kids loved it, especially the teenagers who came by and asked for extras.

Sugar free candies can cause issues besides gastrointestinal. I get migraines from artificial sweeteners. I know a few others, including kids, who do as well. I'd personally toss any that my kids got or save it for my diabetic friend. I wouldn't think anything beyond that and would be unlikely to remember which house it came from.

I've never heard of vegans that don't do petroleum products. Although some people are vegans for environmental reasons, so they might be opposed to petroleum - but otherwise it's not part of veganism.
