How do you go about using a stencil (that has all the letters on one stencil) and being able to do several letters one right after the other? With the wet letter just done I am having a hard time doing the next one, and so on.

Also having trouble with the paint oozing under the stencil and so fattening out the letter.

Any help is appreciated!

lightly trace your wording onto the surface using the stencil. then after you have done that, paint the letters.

Add a fan blowing on the surface and do thin multiple layers....They make stencil adhesive in a aerosol can you can find at hobby shops....It does help with keeping paint from running underneath......If the surface your trying to paint on is uneven or a rough texture then it will be much more difficult...I'd probably do the pencil drawing technique if the surface is rough.....Also adding a little alcohol to the paint helps it dry out faster with the fan blowing on it.....ZR

I think Malicious has a great idea. Or you can trace the latters on to a thin piece of cardboard or a thick piece of cardstock and use a razor to cut it out to make a stencil. Try using a dry brush dabbing lightly instead of painting with super thin coats. That should stop the oozing it may tale longer but in the end might be the easiest way to do it.

Tombstone Lettering

I had a similar issue. What I did was print out the text and temporarily tape it to the tombstone. I then used a ballpoint pen to trace around the fonts to leave a slight impression in the foam. I then hand painted each letter staying within the outlines (see attached photo).
