Using a reindeer motor

This is probably the easiest thing that I just can't wrap my head around. I'm making a skeleton pop up from behind a headstone. I have the reindeer motor from FrightProps.

Is it better to use the arm on the shaft or should I remove it? If I use the arm, is it better to use a screw (pointy end) or a bolt (blunt end)? Either way - should the head of it be underneath the arm as seen here?

Is it better to use the lock nuts or just regular ones?

I get the gist of how to put the rest together, it's just this darn motor! Can you tell it's my first non-static prop?

I used the long plastic arm that was with it ( the ones I order have two, a short and long arm). My head popper is packed away otherwise I would take a picture for you of it. I do have another prop using this motor and will take a picture of what I did and I think it is the about the same as the Headstone popper it is just laying flat not upright. I do use locking nuts or lock tight otherwise they will work loose.

Thanks for that link - I thought I'd watched all that guy's videos but hadn't seen that one! I'd still be happy to see your's when you get a chance, too!

Here is a picture of another prop using the motor. I need the arm to be little longer and added the metal. On my head popper last year I add a sip tie around it to keep both together.

I did find a picture of the popper but you cannot see the arm on the motor because it is moving but will show you how I made it. Sorry I do not have something better to show you at this time but hope it helps some. This like you was my first moving prop.
