Use for a floor lamp help

I have an old floor lamp collecting dust. I plan to coat it with Great Stuff and then paint it so it looks like a pile of guts and then PVC frame shoulders for it. Is there anything I can do after applying the Great Stuff so that it hardens so it doesn't break off when I'm moving it? Thanks,
