So this year I want to finally add the unliving portrait to my haunt, however, would I need 3 separate screens for each frame? If anyone has done this can they help me an maybe show me the wiring if possible.

All you need is one TV. The picture is split up into 3 portraits, you'll need to frame out 3 openings in the wall to match the size and placment depending on your screen size. A good looping player is key to this prop, you don't want a pause or black screen between loops as this tends to ruin the effect. I have Solid State HD Looping Media Players specifically made for this if you're interested.

Do you already have a TV? If you are going out to buy one, maybe consider a projector if you have the space to set it up. Short throw projectors are affordable now too. Found this video. Building something similar myself, but will be running my own animations. I want to use the rear projection method so the screen looks like a canvas surface more, and I don't have a big TV. https://youtu.be/udDzjrjS7do

I used the three tv method. I used various tvs from around the house. I like the variation in sizes. I made frames by hot glueing and painting wood mounding. The only issue is that I would have preferred to tilt one of the tvs in the opposite direction as that would have eliminated a washed out look from the main viewing angle. But the dvd dictates which direction you must tilt the tv. Also, using three separate systems meant they couldn't interact. But overall, people loved it.

One thing that's important when using a TV for any video prop is the viewing angle. All TV's are not suited for this if they will possibly be viewed from an angle as well as straight on. If you have a choice, choose a TV with a wide viewing angle, it makes a huge difference. Stop by any major electronics store and compare how different TV's look from a 45 degree angle and you'll see some that are crisp and some that almost loose the picture completely.

It is ideal if you can use three TV's, or rear project onto framed screens. I did not have a chance to do that with mine and just projected onto a green painted wall. It was washed out, but people at our party really enjoyed it anyway.

During a lightning flash.

I do plan to build a false wall and do a rear projection the next time I use the DVD

In the process of trying to find a decent but cheap short throw projector. The projector I have needs at least 7 feet to make the images a decent size for the family feud.

If you have some room to place the projector off to the side you can shorten that distance using a mirror at a 45 degree angle. If you need 7' total, place the mirror 3.5' behind the wall and the projector 3.5' from center pointed toward the mirror. Those measurements are adjustable but the further the mirror is from the projector, the bigger it needs to be. With the example above, the mirror would need to be 1/2 the size of the intended projection.

Yes! This worked great! Much cheaper and I can run family feud. Now to work on the wall. Happy Dance!
