First our town is almost completely out of pumpkins, have to go to farms tofind them. Even Wal-Monster is out if you can believe that. Second a local high school McCracken county has a 6a team that is in hot competition for the state championship and they are playing on Thursday the 30th instead of on Friday so it wont mess up Halloween for the kids. How cool is that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
There's a town somewhere here in Texas that cancelled Halloween activities because they're in the playoffs too. halloween can wait, football in Texas doesn't.
Yes football is king in Texas, that is unless your local team is as bad as ours. I doubt very many will feel the need to choose the game over Halloween or any other activities. It's honestly pretty painful to watch.

Last year we were buying them for $.25 each after Halloween and blasting them with shotguns for fun. This year we had to do a little searching to find a couple for Halloween.
Our high school homecoming is on Halloween but still Trick or Treating. Plenty of pumpkins around in south Arizona. In fact at our kids last youth group they provided and carved pumpkins so we have more than we usually do in the yard!
Great that the game is scheduled so it won't conflict with Halloween activities! That's as it should be. There's nothing wrong with enjoying the sport, but only a few people will be actively participating in it, whereas loads of people will be participating in Halloween stuff. (The schools that play on Halloween should face empty stands once; then maybe they'd schedule differently.)
There's a certain "Gift of the Magi" irony to the pumpkin situation. Some cities are running low, while around here they're abundant and cheap... but I'll be lucky if I get 10 ToTs.
