I am rewatching Star Trek the Original Series and 80% of the sets is just lighting. I am realizing how much this imprinted on me and how much of my Halloween ambience is created just by mixing coloured lights. I think anyone struggling with lighting mixes could do with a (re)watch and pay attention especially to the way they mix purples in with other colours to give an otherworldly feel.

I have great fun playing with lighting colours.

To make it easier I bought 20 small 12V RGB lights to create colour splashes in my display. The colour of each one can be set using a remote control.

Shadows can also be fun to play with. Definitely fiddle with lighting angles too.

It's funny how since I've been researching lighting for Halloween I've become far more aware of it in TV shows in particular.

I'm a big comic book nerd, and particularly with the Marvel Netflix series, I've noticed they rely on coloured floods for ambience quite a bit.
