What's your theme this year?

Mine is "Primal Fears & Phobias"

I'm always curious to know what other 'themers' are doing. What's hot, what's not. New theme or repeat theme? Do you have to buy everything from scratch or can you pull from 'stock'? New and exciting prop plans?

I'm taking a break from my haunted cemetery that I've been doing for over 10 years and having some pirate fun! I know it's hardly an original idea but believe me, no one around this town has ever done it and I've always loved a good pirate display so I just said 'why not?'.

Repeat theme for me of paranormal asylum for the garage haunt. Front yard is going to just be pumpkin patch/scarecrows which is different this year (tired of the graveyard thing too). Using a lot of what I have already but building new additions - going to spend most of my budget at home depot this year. Adding a couple more projectors and big prop will be a break away wall if I can get it framed right.

I'm think that Yardsale would be a good theme....not selling my stuff, but just setting all my stuff out in the yard. It would really simplify setting it up and putting it away....I can have a pile of skeletons, another of pumpkins.....scarecrows....boxes and boxes of lights...stacks of coffins, ....a couple of buckets of rebar,....a spiders web of extension cords....

Hubby would LOVE your theme...he keeps harassing me to do it. Then never have a packed garage again.
But seriously, just making some plague doctor masks this year....

Coulrophobia!

My house will be cast n purple light, with a full size clown in each window. Sometimes two. ?

Of course 100+ Funkins will be out. Lit in multiple colors.

I am building a 15 foot tall clown as the centerpiece of my yard. I have our haunt title in marquee lights.

Our walkthrough will be a true dark maze this year, with a few lighting effects.

Very excited about our theme his year!

Forbidden Tiki Island is our theme this year. A new one; we change themes every year. Planning an indoor Disenchanted Tiki Room for the guest bathroom. The side patio will be filled with a witch doctor, angry tiki god, headhunters, cannibals, snakes and skulls. Using lots of homemade paper mache props, painted panels, and dollar tree crafts for the display this year.

The front porch almost always features our Gemmy Witch, so will work her into the theme somehow, perhaps stirring shrunken heads in her cauldron.

We're also doing a carnEvil/scary clown theme this year. Totally new for us (although a solid theme done up very well by many here). Too many details to list but will be posting progress pics as things move along.

Very original and freeing idea! Just drag it out and stack it in categories. Even though you're not selling stuff you could use mock price tags. A pint of blood for a vampire costume, three blind mice for a scary owl or cat....

We have decided to go all new this year. Our haunt will be called "Castle Von Angst" it will have 8 rooms we have come up with new concepts for each of the and are retiring several of our favorite rooms. We are also expanding two concepts from last year one will be our haunted walk through geared towards our younger crowd and the other will be the Thanksgiving Canned Food Drive. Like our Facebook page www.facebook.com/lonestarhaunts for details and updates.
Until then.....

We are doing Disney villains/ nightmare before Christmas. Super excited for our theme this year.
My 8 year old son is excited to be helping build props this year. He has a lot of great ideas.
It's fun when the kids are excited to help.
