Just started on these last night . Cloaking made from landscape fabric which I had a roll of. Can't decide whether to forget reality and have them standing or make them perchable.
I'm considering making their necks from worn out motorcycle fork springs to give them some life. Figured any breeze might give them a little motion that way. I figured if we have scarecrows we ought to have crow scares as well. Thinking dim green LEDs for the eyes.

Love the springs idea, and I love the mask. Very cool! I wanted to use springs on a witch crash to get some movement from the legs. How stiff are they? Where'd you get the mask?

Mask is from Ebay. I actually only bought one initially but decided to make a pair of guardians,sentinels whatever. Second is on it's way.Stiffness of the springs depends on the bike. The tinier the better probably. I'll let you know when I get some. Unfortunately I sold my barn full of spare bike parts last summer and not even a single spring left.

I used the crow mask with a farm theme, too. Mine was on a mannequin body on a second-floor deck. (I got less-noticeable tie straps for the ankles, but had to use what I had on hand at first, since it was windy.)
I love the idea of attaching the heads with springs. That should look excellent-- give it that extra touch of realism.

I love the look of that Jen, great photo. He looks like he is peering down looking for a tasty morsel. Nosefuratyou thank you if you will let me know how the springs work. I was thinking springs last year, but I couldn't find any that gave enough play. Those mannequin legs are pretty heavy, so they would have to be firm enough to hold the weight, but "springy" enough to nod in the wind.

Perching this 'thing', like ooojen did, makes it much more menacing IMO, but you can't go wrong either way. It's a great mask, and you're already off to a wicked start

I moved theses things out of my workshop as they took up too much room. I was originally going to have them both standing but I think I like one crouched and the other standing. They will both be at least another 18 inches tall.

I'm going to use 3mm green LEDs placed to the side of the eyes. I found when I tested that the bubble wrap around the wig head kind of diffused the light and glowed .
