? The "best" spooky yard lighting how-to?

Hi Gang,

Has anyone out there found a better Halloween yard lighting how-to with diagrams such as the wonderful info I found here: -Skull And Bone- -Skull And Bone-

I used some of the ideas here and followed the computer-generated diagrams. They help me out, but the can/spot lighting can be a little costly.

Thanks in advance!

Skull and Bone lighting tutorial is unquestionably one of the best around. A lot of haunts use Rob's methods and the results are excellent. I think before this type of info was available, many yard haunts were washed out with light.
It's all about Lighting. And Ambient Sound. And Weather. And Fog. And Scare Actors. And TOT Co-operation. And Moon Phase......
Cans are expensive many of us have made our own "cans" from recycled or commonly available items. I started with painted pvc and basic light sockets and have progressed to building led floods still using both in combination. I have seen soda bottles, coffee cans, oatmeal (quacker) cardboard tub and so on used to produce the effects of cans.
Don't forget ebay and craigslist...

Homemade cans are easy enough, but I have found deals on lighting online. I once bought 4 pin spots for 5 bucks. I just don't know what to do with them!

For the money, landscape lighting rocks! You can route it all over the place, and it is low on energy use.

I mostly use multi-outlet cords with LED floods and spots on holiday yard stakes, with the landscape lighting up accent items.
Skull and Bone is the best that I've seen. Really made my haunt look so much better this year.

Thanks for the reply, folks My yard looks even SCARIER in the daylight with the 50+ large "serpents" of power cords lying about! I try to get the heavier gauge cord on sale...they are so costly AND so heavy!

I seem to use a lot of lights and still don't have the effect I want.I have read and reread skull and bones tut but maybe I am not getting something right anyone wanna share tips?Blue is the color I love but doesn't show up very well.I used yellow on a couple of props and liked the look it brought to them.To make the yard visable I had to use some regular flood.I would love some help to get it visable with blue.

HI,

Their pics show you how...purple pins spot to show detail on small items, use blue flood on one side and yellow directed bulbs/lanterns on opposite side (look here if i grabbed the pic properly for you).

It took ma a few moments of reviewing this pics and diagrams. It all makes sense after that.

Best wishes for your continued success.

Bill:)
