I didn't put out a teal pumpkin last year, but I did have a mini cauldron of non-candy treats ready, in case someone mentioned allergies (and no tattoos, since some might still affect those with celiac).
I bought a DT pumpkin and teal paint from Walmart, but I just didn't do it. I found them both a week or so ago, and do plan on putting it out this year. I actually considered putting the teal pumpkin out "now" (well before the holiday), so that maybe parents will realize that we'll have non-food things, and they can count on us. I wondered too, if I should put out more than one, so they are seen more easily. (a larger pumpkin would probably just solve that problem, eh?)
I've been hitting thrift shops and buying up their "mixed bags" of small toys if they look good, and I've also bought sets of bracelets from DT and CVS that I can open the package and distribute a few here and there, instead of giving someone the entire pack of 10-30. It makes these treats super cheap, but still fun. I'm having more luck finding "girl" stuff, than I am finding "boy" stuff in bulk, though.
We give out glow bracelets to everyone, so that's not really an option for us for this. Several years ago I gave out Tiny Tim skulls from Anatomical Chart Company to kids who said that they couldn't have candy, but those can be kind of expensive. I'm going to have a look around at Oriental Trading and some other novelty sites.
