Hey guys, I've done a search but not much luck. I'm looking to make my leering skeleton on my column welcome the tots with a short talk and jokes. Question one, is there any servo controller that stores the audio? #2 what would be the best controller for this?

There are usually a few components to a talking skull:

- Motor to make the jaw move - either a servo or a toy hobby motor, as in a Gemmy skull. Since you mention a servo I'll describe the rest with that in mind.
- Control board that activates the motor. There are different ones available, most usually react to a "beep track" on one channel of a stereo track.
- Then you need a prop controller, ideally with a motion detector, which triggers the playback of the sound file on an mp3 board. You would have a few different mp3s that you could cycle through so the skull says something different each time.

The guy who started all this is Scary Terry, see his website for info:

Look on the right for the sections on Driving A Servo With Sound and Installing A Servo in a Bucky Skull.

The thing here is that the board Scary Terry describes is made commercially by Cowlacious, but they seem to be going through some difficulty this season and have not been up to their usual standard of customer service. There are a couple of variations of the Scary Terry board made by individuals on this board and HauntForum but I don't know the availability.

If you have some experience with the Arduino, here's an Instructable that will work:
