I agree

Voodoo,

While this is another excellent example of you work, it seems out of place. A black rose with withered leaves is more in line with the environment one would find the skelefairies.

Keep in mind your theme.

Now if the flowers where at the foot of a headstone, and a bit withered, I think I would find that in line with the basic theme.

In fact I think that would be an excellent display and realistic as to the environment one would finds the skelefairies occupying.

I certainly hope you are working toward marketing your creations. I think by next halloween, you could be a very successful artist if you take some time on marketing.

Thanks Spinman. I also thought about making a funeral wreath and having a couple of them in that.

What I liked about the red rose is that it was out of place. The contrast between what is considered beauty and life..the rose..versous the ugly and death...the Cemafairy. Besides I had them laying around:D

I do like the idea of having a tombstone in the background and the worn flowers lying in front I am going to have to do that one.

As far as marketing I haven't a clue :( any suggestions or ideas would be appreciated.

Cemefairies !

I knew I had something wrong when I called em Skelefairies.

Should have gone back to thread and confirmed.

Anyway as far as marketing.

My whole family are artists except for me. My mom in earlier years was very successful in sealing her art. My older sister paints and skulpts horses. She does the Bronze thing and does OK. My older sister who is a wonderful watercolorest does nothing.

My point is, that Artist and Marketing are not natural room-mates.

I beleive some suggestions were already provided to you in other posts.

1. Open an EBAY seller account and advertise there. It is a small investment, and you can start by offering a minimuim bid that will at least cover your cost of materials. I think you should start higher. Say around $40.00 for a single fairy scene. The one I would start with is my favorite ( WHY !!!!. ) Head up of course. Remember to charge enough for shipping and ask for insurance as well to protect you and the buyer.

2. I would also look into copyrighting your work. Do a search on the web. This may be a bit costly, but depending on how serious you are about marketing, it could be important.

3. I would consider this step only after copyrighting the work. Contact a company like Hallmark. Provide no pictures at this point. Just explain to them that you have a small scupture art that is theme based and would be highly marketable during the Halloween season. These types of companies are always looking for new collectable ideas.

4. On the same line. Contact Franklin Mint or Danbury Mint. These are collectable companies. Again supply no pictures. If they request pictures, then ask how they deal with copyright issues.

5. There are also Web Sites designed specifically for selling Art.

6. My sister is in contact with someone who is selling her art. I will talk with her further when she visits this Christmas and report back to you.

Let me know if I can help. I am more than willing to help you get going. I think it is highly evident that a large majority of the people here are thrilled with your work. Talent deserves reward.

New Edit.

I did some checking re copyright. It may not be necessary as there is an implied copyright on Art. It is a good idea to place a copyright symbol on the work and apply the correct information with it. I did a search on can I copyright art. About.com has some good info.

I just thought the fairy would show up better against a black rose but I get the life/death thing. Wonder how it would look if you painted the fairy white...kind of like a reverse sunburn from laying around and getting bleached bones...lol!
