Spirit Halloween 2023

This may be an interesting year for Spirit Halloween. It will be their 40th anniversary this year so they may do something special. Also since Seasonal Visions is doing pneumatic animatronics now we may get some interesting animatronics from that too.

Their website’s internal system/website database starts updating in late April and early May so we will have to wait for that.

Who spearheads Spirit's Flashback Fridays because aside from Charlie, Wacky, and Molly, there is no demand for these other props they're bringing back. They're the dullest of the dull and some of them aren't that old. When I think of flashback, I think of the props made between 2009 and 2014. Personally, I'd like to see them bring back Witch of Stolen Souls or the Midnight Countess. I know I sound like a broken record and I've heard that Spirit refuses to work with Gemmy, but I'm hopeful. I hold Gemmy very near to my heart and aside from Tekky and YJ, I don't care much for the other companies that Spirit works with. I think it's funny that the kids that defecate on Gemmy will do mental gymnastics to prop up a company like Crazy Create. Their quality is cheap(cheaper than Gemmy), their items are a pain in the *ss to put together and disassemble, and their products tend to break more that any other company. For five seasons that I've been with the company, there has always been one Crazy Create prop that broke.
The molds/blueprints for the older animatronics could be discarded or lost and apparently, it costs thousands of dollars to make new ones.

I still agree with your statement, though. Ghost Swing and Molly were very good sellers back when they first released so they are probably trying to play it safe since Wacky Mole and other returns did not sell very good.

I can confirm that most of classic era SVI molds are sadly long gone. That’s why a lot of the remakes have noticeable facial differences.

They did a very good job at remaking Wacky Mole’s head, unless they still had his molds.

So, what do you think the spirit lineup is gonna be in terms of ranking this year, everybody? I know it’s too early for this stuff, but do we think it will be mid, good, bad, great?

Sad to think we won't get to see Gertrude or Samantha return. I hope Gemmy and Tekky have held on to their classic and prototype molds.

My prediction is that there will be a pneumatic animatronic that will be popular, a new licensed animatronic that will be popular, and perhaps Tekky will make a 12ft animatronic for Spirit.

I don't want to give my hopes up because last year was kinda weak but I’m hoping this year will be good.

A Youtuber who spoke with Spirit employees said that Spirit will be offering some of the best animatronics in a long time. So there is that we can go off of.

But did the employees say that without a gun to their heads

I'm gonna be optimistic but their hands may be a little tied

Probably not, this Youtuber is apparently friends with some of the Spirit employees and Spirit manufacturers. He also knows the people behind Morris Costumes, Tekky Toys, and Seasonal Visions I believe. Here is the clip of him mentioning the 2023 line-up.

It will rank below Lowes, and Home Depot's lineups in terms of innovation, quality, and probably be slowly dribbled out until people loose interest and have spent their money elsewhere like every year. However, the squeakers, Spirit Fan boys, people who think the stuff is an actual investment they can easily flip to collectors for more money after a few years, and the YouTube/Instagram "influencers who are little more than paid shills will cry tears of joy and gush with excitement like every year.

Maybe they realized that they need to change their approach to product releases, quality, innovation, and pricing, but I doubt it. In other words we should only be a couple of months away from the lame-assed sneak peak videos, and one or two decent props surrounded by reskins and half-assed concepts with elaborate back stories that no one other than squeakers and Spirit Fan boys ever read to fill in the spaces in between them.

Everyone, and I am assuming Home Depot will be no different, appear that they may feature pneumatic props this season so even that isn't really going to be a major innovation this year especially since I am predicating Spirit Halloween's will most likely be a clown that bounces around. Essentially a reskinned pneumatic version of Lucky Bottoms, or 😲 a pneumatic rising clown.

As much as I want to believe this year will be good, I have so little faith in spirit anymore, they stoped making any really “scary” props a long time ago, and now it seems like they just market their props to 5 year olds on youtube. Not every prop needs to be a bloody gore fest, but when you have a prop like Spike or the pig butcher from 2020 and there’s almost no blood on it, then that’s definitely a problem.

Here is our first updated ANIM page. This one is a static yet still has the ANIM label on it.

There could be more after this so i'll keep looking

They have some sort of caching for performance so I've always seen them switch back and forth a bit.

I missed this one but and added it to my list, and have change monitors on the following and I don't see any more updated as of a few minutes ago.

I sorta disagree with your opinion. Home Depot and Lowes have the same animatronics quality-wise as Spirit. Home Depot sells Pan Asian animatronics which are very low quality and Lowes sells Sunstar/Gemmy/Party Time animatronics which are pretty low quality as well. I would say the only companies that produce garbage for Spirit are Crazy Create and some of the obscure manufacturers. I would say Party Time is pretty low quality too but it depends. Also, Spirit has a pretty good animatronic repair service which is something Home Depot and Lowes do not offer.

If Mr. Dark, Grim, Strawman, and the many licensed animatronics are not innovative then I don't know what is. Home Depot does do a good job at releasing cool animatronics but most of them are over 9ft and require a lot of storage space but they have some cool regular-sized animatronics as well. I cannot think of anything “innovative” that Lowes did unless you count the 12ft Mummy or the licensed animatronics both of which are pretty low quality.

Not all collectors collect stuff for their financial value, it’s not worth doing that anyways, particularly since Spirit continuously restocks stuff every year. You would have to wait many years for something to have a resell value.

I think the main appeal of their collectibles is that they are based on movies that don’t get a lot of attention with Trick ‘r Treat, Krampus, and Killer Klowns.

I do agree that Spirit Halloween’s prices are way too ridiculous and that the animatronics need more. The animatronics last year hardly had any animation and all of their prices were over 150. I also agree that the Spirit Halloween fans are pretty toxic and white knights a company that doesn't care about them.

With Spike or the Butcher you could easily add more blood to them with Permablood or something similar to that.

However, I do agree. I really dislike how most of their animatronics crack one-liners and such and have a cartoony appearance.

Spirit uses kid Youtube channels such as DavidsTV to get kids hooked on their stuff which I find scummy.

I’m not sure if this will be better or worse than the one Trick or Treat Studios came out with a few years back. I find it annoying how they group up static props with animatronics.
I have a feeling it will likely be less detailed than the TOT one but still have a ridiculous price.

If it’s online only as the item number suggests it could very likely be the TOTS version since Spirit sells their items.

The measurements don't seem to match up, Spirit’s is 5 foot and 11 inches while TOTS’s is 6 foot and 2 inches. The TOTS Cotton Candy Cocoon seems to have a better value though since it’s larger and will probably be cheaper than Spirit’s.
