For me its the smell of a cheap rubber mask, chocolate candy cause we only usually got it around holidays and there is just a smell in the air here in the great smokey mountains that just makes you aware that it is fall and time for ghosts to star roaming in preparation for that great night to come... Please share some of your thoughts..I would lobe to hear them as I am gearing up now for Halloween in full speed...

For me, it's the smell of wood burning. When I was a kid, quite a few people on the block had either fireplaces or wood stoves, so I smelled it all night long while trick or treating. Now, anytime I smell wood burning, doesn't matter the time of year, I'm always brought back to Halloween night Also, the smell of a freshly carved pumpkin. As soon as I carve the top off, I still sick my head inside and take a big whiff!

When I smell fresh baked pumpkin pie or pumpkin bread, even apple pie it makes me think of Halloween. Also the smell of wood burning and like you said the plastic mask smell


Best smell of all would be when the leaves fall and it rains and the leaves get wet it smells like Halloween lol

I agree with many here. Pumpkin does it for me. I have a spiced pumpkin candle burning in my office all year round

Agreed, the plastic/latex smell ~always makes me think of masks & costumes. The smell of a freshly opened pumpkin that's being prepped for carving is an automatic Halloween memory jogger & mood booster for me. Love hearing what gets everyone else in the mood!

The pumpkin carving smells - first when you cut open the fresh pumpkin and then that smell of burning pumpkin once you light it up. You can't beat it!

I'm with MissMandy on this. I live in an older neighborhood where a lot of people still burn wood and the first smell of it tells me fall has arrived. It's very distinct and gets my juices flowing!

I might be the odd-ball here, but the scent of a Fog Machine takes me straight to halloween! Others would be:

A Candle burning in a Jack-o-Lantern
Candy Corn
Apple Cider
Latex Masks / Props
