We decided to try our hands at a projection effect... singing severed head. Inspired by the singing busts at Haunted Mansion, these unfortunate souls tried stealing Captain Bone's treasure... BIG mistake! While not completely finished, this should give you an idea of the final effect.

Yes, we were very pleasantly surprised at how well the projector worked out. Surprisingly bright and the picture quality isn't bad, given the low resolution (640x480). I tested with still photos... yuck! Not very good at all, but video seems to work quite well.

Wonderful job. A couple of things about these projectors that many may not realize: First, its LED so the power requirements are rather low, if anything much lower than a typical projector. Why is that important? Well, you can attach other powered devices on the same power strip (lighting, inflatable props, etc. without much worry f overloading the circuit. Many forget that regular projector are hungry power eaters (gotta light that 300w bulb somehow) so having a few powering off one breaker runs this risk of overload.

Another even better thing I like about these LED projectors is they have a built in media player. As you see on the video, the animation is on that thumb drive. Now the media players themselved usually can read most of the well known format (avi, wmv, mp4) so if you have a dvd file you want to changeover, just go download for free a program like dvdflick and it should be easily read by the media player. Also, one less plug (and one less electronic box) to account for. Everythings on the projector.

Obviously, resolution isn't that great but these units for first generation low cost LED projectors. For what you need (ie faces) the quality should be enough for presentation. Hell, just being able to showcase such a prop is an achievement itself. Look to the next few years as resoultion will take a big leap forward- 720p and 1080p native projection will come around faster than you think.. then the probelm wont be the projector, it will be the quality of the animation itself.

Can't wait to see thew rest of the costumes. Also, where this you source the faces animation from? Is that homemade?
Great work!
