Here's my newest prop it's a zombie powered by a shiatsu massager, audio is from one of the cheapo MP3's connect to PC speakers mounted in the chest area. Prop is currently triggered by R/C, but will be connected to a motion sensor for the haunt. It's hard to tell from the pic, but he stands right at 5'.

Cont'd

Sorry I didn't take any photos along the way. I modified mine from others I had seen. Here's a basic sketch for it.

I used a foam filled latex prop zombie head, hands from one of my ground breakers last year, plastic bags and duct tape to fill him out. I hid the galvanize pipe in his right pants leg and added some filler hung from the massager to fill out the thigh on the right.

For the audio I taped 2 smaller pc speakers on either side of the cross beneath the horizontal bar for his shoulders and connect a cheapo mp3 player. Audio is from Poison Props Monsters & Zombies CD.

Hope you enjoy!

Grreat job!!! ...do you have any pics of the build? I have a couple of those massagers and was going to make groundbreakers with them, but checking out your work, I'm thinking about using one for my graverobber instead.

Do you think the "moving" arm could hold the weight of a lantern?

and where do I find a cheapo MP3 player?

I bought the mp3 players during a group buy on another forum for $5/piece. You might check ebay though.

I don't know about the supporting a lantern, but I'm considering building another one for my cemetery grounds keeper and adding a lantern. I'll keep ya posted on my findings and I'll try and take some pics of the build for those interested.

Cool. I have a massager I want to use but i'm not sure how to connect it to a prop!
Pull the cover off (material) and remove the rubber knob then the 1/2 PVC will pretty much slide right over it.

A group of these (4-5) in a dark hallway or ally would scare anyone LOL
Well I may undo my spooky sam version and I have another massager so I may have 3:D I plan on making atleast one and switching the sides of the swinging arm.

very nice prosthetic an make up job!!!
The boy is hillarious never would have known if not for 2nd pic, at 1st I was like why is he kneeling, my browser didn't have 2nd pic in the frame LOL

Actually it's not a prosthetic/make up job. Takes all of a few seconds to put on my silicone SPFX zombie mask

He got a lot of scares in our walk through haunt....(proud dad :D )

I really like this prop..I think it's because it stands on a plywood base and looks like a Gemmy prop.
That's got to be the 2nd best compliment I've got on this prop....only 2nd because one of my neighbors asked if I bought this or built it.

Who's the guy in the white shirt playing basketball in the video?
I wondered if anyone was going to comment on that. He (teen) was visiting the neighbors. We have kids all over the place around here and they usually end up in my yard or playing on my basketball goal. Doesn't bother me and helps peak halloween interest early in the year and returns a decent number of tot's on the big night.

Your son the bush is awesome...
Thanks....put that costume together in a couple of hours. One oversized long sleeve olive green shirt, several sticks of hot glue and 10 (i think) 5' pieces of fake ivy. I just cut it into appropriate length pieces and glued them on the shirt horizontally. After adding all the pieces I glued leaves from one string to the other to fill in any gaps. Pot came from wally world and just cut the bottom out and added suspenders. Cost me less than 1/2 the $75 he won in the costume contest.
