For the past couple of years I've made an attempt to grown my own corn + pumpkins to use in my annual Halloween display. After many frustrating and failed attempts I was determined to grow them this year. I went all out and purchased the best seeds, soil and fertilizer possible. I did all the research on how to plant, when to plant and what to plant. This is a chronicle of those endeavors (WARNING it does get ugly):

March 30, 2019 - One week since Big Max pumpkin seeds were planted in starter trays

April 18, 2019 - Time to transplant

May 10, 2019 - First flowers begin to show on Big Max pumpkins

May 19, 2019 - Planted Bloody Butcher corn and Jack-O-Lantern pumpkins

May 31, 2019 - The little ones have grown up

June 17, 2019 - Summer storms are evil; heavy winds blew down my entire corn crop

June 07, 2019 - Corn has been growing on stalks for nearly 2 weeks and looks healthy. Some of the stalks are over 8' tall now. Pumpkins have been showing signs of major heat stress (yellow leaves) and powdery mildew has started showing up. Still getting male/female flowers but no pumpkins yet. However one of the pumpkin vines got clever and decided to climb up the corn corn stalk (I would like to see who wins that battle).

This is not an optical Illusion - Yes that is a pumpkin vine growing up the corn stalk (aprox. 6' high)
