As I got bit by the bug this year I have been really wanting to make some good props with good mechs in them. After seeing that screaming witch jump out of that chair like 5 feet, that is sort of where I am going, at least with the mech part, my idea will be different. My question is that all the mechs that I have seen of bigger size are made out of steel. I want to try to get some pretty good distance so I was going to use aluminum. I am using shoulder bolts and bushings so hopefully all my joint will be super smooth. Is there a reason other than cost that people don't use aluminum tubing? I would like to get in the realm of 6 foot extension, was going to use 1/8 wall in the first half of mech, and 1/16 in the second half to cut weight.

Still doing lots of research so please bear with me....
