Most of the movies that pop into my mind first have already been named. I love the oldies, the cheesy B-movies and even the slasher flicks like Hostel. I saw The Crazies, but the story line was just too familiar for me. Reminded me too much of another movie I watched. I'm going to have to search my library and get back with this thread! :D

Until we meat again . . . . Muahhahahahahahahahaaaaaa!

How Come Nobody Mentioned..

The 1922 movie (Yes, it's silent)
HAXAN!
A college art professor handed me a copy of this years ago. You will see things and scenes in this movie that you have never seen before.
"Make-Up", in 1922 they just hired a ragged old-hag-looking woman to play the Witch.!!
How about that?
This movie begins with a lavish art illustration of the history of Wicthcraft, which goes on and on.
Quite educational.
Some of the scenes will not be forgotten.

The Exorcist is like the Stairway to Heaven of horror, it is by far the best , so we can just put it in it's own category. Other than that, eesh, this will be bugging me all day, I'd have to say "The Thing" 1982 scared the crap out of me, "Salem's lot", and "Hellraiser" were great too.

I agree. Like I said earlier, I think The Exorcist is the best and the scariest.

Scariest to me - The Ring and Paranormal Activity

I do not own these movies nor are they allowed in my house. I made my husband promise that if we are ever at a friend's house and they decide to watch these movies that we will leave. And I love horror movies.

Someone mentioned 'Session 9' and I wanted to mention it again. There is some beautifully creepy imagery in this movie and the voice at the end haunted me for days.

As I type I currently have one of those Paranormal Activity movies on....let's see...it's 4..wait FOUR?!?WTF?!?

Anyhoo...I don't have the patience for these movies if I can't FF them. The first one was OK but by this one they seemed to have run out of things that open & close by themselves.

I just don't "get" them. But then that's "sequelitis" I guess.

Someone mentioned 'Let the Right One In' ... which I thought was FANTASTIC and probably the best horror movie offering I've seen in recent years. Highly recommend it. :) Didn't see the American version of similar name (Let Me In) but the story is good, so you probably can't go wrong.
And yet they did go wrong with it.

Whenever possible stick with the original version of anything. The original Japanese Ring series, Ju-On- The Grudge, the original Swedish "Let the Right One In", just skip the remakes & "reimaginings" & go original. They're always better, even if you have to read subtitles, it's worth it.
