Hi Guys,

any tips on using RMG Paint?

I've bought some Mehron Mask Cover grease paint and finding it difficult to use.

It seems very hard and won't apply to my sponge well. Any tips on using it?

also, whats the best way to mix colours? do i take a scoop out of the colours i need and mix it separately?

I'm a total novice so any tips on applying it would be great?

Thanks guys!

If you have the money, the Kryolan RMG pallets are nice, with their assortment of colors...you may have to deal with a specialty shop to get these...they are very opaque and the colors very consistent from year to year. A common item in a film-industry makeup kit.

And on a budget, you can scrape regular pancake makeup into a bowl, crush it fine, and mix in a very small amount of castor oil...a fresh mixture of this will spread easily but it will contain a small amount of mineral oil from the pancake. I first read about this in Alan Ormsby's "Movie Monsters" book from 1975, but it is an old trick. This can be done to get a basic flesh-tone.

You can mix in some lining colors to adjust the flesh tone in some other direction--to make a greenish or blueish flesh, and so on.
