Cant see any other posts that are sorta the same as this so here goes, i have made a simple electric chair prop that uses a 12v timer cycle relay board to stop and start bits and pieces of the prop, i was wondering if its possible to link the timer to an older style single push button hard wired remote that i have for a fog machine that doesnt get used much anymore

So in short i want the cycle timer to open its circuit, do its bit with the chair, and activate the fog machine (which is always hot at the mains, awaiting signal from remote)

Yes, easily done with a RELAY board, but not with the one you linked to, that uses MOSFETS. Open the remote and connect the dry contacts of the relay to the wires going to the push button of the remote. The relay will function as the push button. One thing to keep in mind though, it's not 100% reliable because it depends on the heating cycles of the fog machine. If it's in a re-heat cycle when the controller closes the relay, you won't get any fog. For the most part, it works pretty well. Also, be sure to isolate the relay board and connections.

Yes. You should have room inside the remote case for a small relay.

Ok im at a lost, i have opened the remote switch and found a black, and a red wire that run off the push button, one would assume these 2 wired together would perminately close the circuit if that way inclined... and a blue wire that looks to operate the led “ready to run” light.

Im lost when it comes to what type of relay i need, and how to wire it between the cycle relay as above and the remote (black and red wire), and links to ebay items or reference pages to read up on would be greatly appreciated.

If you havnt gathered yet, im still feeling my way thru this lol

The link you provided for the timer module is only single output, so it can only control one function of your prop unless you want the fog machine to run the same amount of time as the chair. Here's a link to the type of relay you'll need for the fogger. This one operates on 12vdc, you'll need to get one that matches whatever voltage you are using for the timer module. The two wires from the remote push button will go to the "C" and "N.O." pins of the relay. Neg and Pos power to the coil of the relay comes from the outputs of the timer. As I mentioned, this will only work when the "ready" light is lit on the remote.

I have done it before. All you have to do is to wire a relay contact (normally open) across the switch. You would take one wire attached to one side of the switch to the "common" on your relay and the other side of the switch to the "normal open" side of the relay. Just verify that the relay contacts are not whetted which means they do not have any voltage applied to the contacts. I have done this with three of my fog machines and it has worked great to the last 3 years. Hope this helps. Keith

Thank J-Man, ive ordered the relay, pretty much as you described is what i was thinking only unsure on which way of wiring the relay.
Apologies about the other thread floating around... its the original thread i made but didnt (seem) to post at the time

No worries on the double thread. Here's a diagram of the relay pinouts. The two wires from the remote button go to pins 3 (COM) & 5 (NO). Pos and neg power to energize the relay coil when you want fog go to pins 1 & 2.
