Are you guys following this? I love Halloween, and pumpkins, but I don't know if I love them enough to hula hoop in tear gas! I know, I'm a total party pooper. Lol. Reading tweets about it is pretty hilarious though.

Thoughts?

Oh yes, of course it is a mess, and the people doing this are a bunch of idiotic, privileged little punks. But there's still a twinge of humor in it, I think. Not like "Ha ha, its funny this happened to a community" but more like "Oh my god, these kids are so ridiculously stupid, you kind of have to make fun of them and laugh!" I mean, seriously, who riots over pumpkins? What are their motivations? Pumpkin spice justice? Lol. WTF?

i see your humor but i really don't think it's funny at all...in any way. to destroy...just wantonly destroy people's $30k cars just because you CAN be an idiot. they actually totally flipped two cars over and video shows mobs rocking cars --who knows if they had frightened people trapped in them. it really had to have been extremely terrifying for the many small children that would have been there.

and i agree that they are stupid. Is it horrible to hope that someday someone destroys something THEY worked hard for?? they are damn lucky that some of them aren't sitting in jail on murder/manslaughter charges this morning. It was such an 'evil mob marauding', imo.

If this is the behavior people engage in at a 'fun family event', what the hell is going to happen if we have a true crisis? Oh, wait...we already know...

This behavior will lead to an even stronger police presence next year, if the event is permitted at all, and a lot of people staying away. A lot of people must have worked very hard to put on the festival and they have my sympathy.
i, too, wonder if they will even have the fest next year. it just sucks. a$$hats, indeed....literally...IN DEED they are a$$hats...

Very unfortunate occurrence. I hate being lumped in with these types of $%#ers simply because of my age, as so many tend to assume that all younger people are nothing but worthless scum who will jump anything that moves and look for any excuse to party and cause destruction. Anyone else wanting to crack their heads open and scoop out what little brains they may have?

This article at The Daily Beast gives a pretty good picture of what happened: http://www.thedailybeast.com/articl...iot-police-at-keene-n-h-pumpkin-festival.html

The key points being:

1) This was frat boy stuff, from students in and out of the state. Their only point was to "f*ck sh*t up".

2) The rioting did not take place on Main Street itself, but 3 blocks away, so it was separate from the actual festival. That's being totally lost in the majority of media coverage.

Also, I'm glad I highlighted the Pumpkin Blaze in my other thread and not the Keene festival. Damn.
