One of my projects for this year is to take a wheelchair base that I was given and convert it into a base for an animated prop.
Before I could get started, I had to replace the 2 batteries. Not cheap but once they were installed, the wheelchair ran perfectly. Of course, that was with the attached joystick. My plan requires RC control.
After some research, I found that I needed to remove the electric brakes from the motors. I was hesitant but it turned out to be a simple process. If your interested, I did a quick video on the process -
The next step was to hook up the Sabertooth 2x32 motor controller along with the Hitec Aurora 9x RC transmitter and receiver. It took some tweaking to the settings but it's running like a champ now!
My challenge going forward is to decide what to use it for. Any suggestions are welcome.
