There's a big thread in the craft forum on doll makeovers might be useful to look at:

I've been working on making over a bunch of dolls this year, and I found the following two tutorials to be the most useful:

http://www.halloweenforum.com/tutorials-step-step/120949-zombie-doll-tutorial.html

http://www.hauntforum.com/showthread.php?p=751990

Not mentioned in either tutorial, but also useful is crackle medium, which can be used to create a fine web of cracks on any painted surface:

Like chinclub, I've mostly used plastic dolls sourced from goodwill or yard sales, so I don't have pointers that are specific to working with porcelain. But hopefully the above links provide a good starting place.

I have a few porcelain dolls I am working on this year as well, they are going in our nursery. I made couple look decrepit, I like the painted cracks, I think I will add that technique to a couple as well.
