You know the plastic stakes that come w/ the inexpensive foam tombstones? Well, of course some of mine broke and some are just plain missing from most of the tombstones I bought last year.

What do you guys suggest using for stakes? Something that might work better. I was just thinking of wooden dowel rods.

I use the green garden stakes to keep my tombstones planted and stable. One long stake will usually give me 4-6 stakes once broken down. They seem to do well.

I'm trying something new this year. I've hot glued (2) 6" long pieces of 3/4" schedule 40 (sprinkler tube) to the back of each tombstone, then cut (2) 12" long pieces of rebar for each. I'll put the rebar 6" into the ground, then slide the tombstones over them.
Every year I've had issues, but hopefully not this year!

If you are talking about putting wooden dowels directly into the foam I tried that but it didnt work well for me...the dowel kept bursting through the foam... maybe my foam wasnt thick enough.... this is how I fixed mine....
