I bought a PIR sensor from Ebay/aliexpress, comes with 3 wires : brown, blue and red now i want to connect it to my Picoboo FI-104S for it to activate when this is movement but i can't figure out how to connect and make it works.

I have tried connecting all 3 wires in all possible ways of the picoboo trigger : - , in and +. but i can't make it work. Anyone can help me to make it work ? Is my sensor faulty or am i just wiring it wrong?

PIRs take about 90 seconds to "warm up" and work have you tried each combination and let enough time pass? Also can you post a link to the PIR so I can take a look

If what you have is a PIR module, it probably outputs 5 volts positive when active. I could be wrong as I don't have one but I don't think the Picoboo trigger works with a positive input. You may have to add an NPN transitor to supply a negative input to the Picoboo.

I think i just got the sensor with not the right voltage. I can't find the exact link to the part i bought but it looks like it for a range of 85-265v so it sure wont work with my picoboo.

A similar one i found on ebay, so it sure wont work on my picoboo. Just placed another order for a 12v pir sensor, hope this one will work.

Got a link to the 12v? Again, if it outputs high, I don't think it will work directly with the Picoboo.

Well again, unless the negative output of that PIR is switched, I don't think it will work without adding a transistor.

I found this on Frightprops. Ignore the voltage regulator since the sensor you have can handle the 12v directly from the Picoboo. I have not done this since but looks like it should work.

Demongod, you think it will work as is or do you think i will need to add a resistor and transistor ?

As I mentioned a couple times, if that negative output of the PIR is switched (normally not connected to ground) then it will work as is. If the negative output of the PIR is always ground, then you will need to add an NPN transistor.

Didn't work with the ebay PIR sensor. Ended up byuing a PIR sensor from Frightideas.com

Is it possible to power that sensor at 120v (connect to plug) and still trigger the picoboo?

Perhaps this sensor is incompatible with PicoBoo?

Y split the picoboo power input to the male plug. You still need to cut the wires to go into the triggerable inputs.

Pretty sure the Picoboo needs a negative input from the PIR, not positive.
