I was in another thread talking about something that had nothing to do about pets, but yet the conversation somehow led to a pets discussion, so I thought I would start a thread where we can talk about the loves our life: our pets!

For me, I was searching for ways that I could display a new set of Halloween ornaments I just bought without using an actual tree because I have a Pica cat that loves to chew on everything. Instead of baby proofing my home, I have to cat-proof it, so no trees for me.

What about your pets? Anyone have any funny stories about your pets that involve Halloween? How about dressing your pets up in costumes? Share it here!

we moved into our house in august 2016, and got a dog as soon as we moved in (we actually inherited the dog with the house; the former owners were moving to a place where they couldn't have dogs, and we wanted a dog anyway so we got him). he's as docile as any dog i've ever seen so he did wonderfully at our halloween party a couple of months later.

we got a second dog in january 2017 and she's super hyper. she has calmed a lot since we got her but she's still very high energy. we were worried that she would go crazy at our 2017 halloween party but she was super chill too. last year dog 1 was a shark and dog 2 was a mermaid. :D

I would love to see a picture of that! I can envision what a doggie shark costume would look like, but not quite sure how a mermaid would go!

ha, they were actually really goofy costumes. they both strapped around the dogs' backs, the shark costume looked like the dog's head was coming out of the shark's mouth, and the mermaid costume just looked like a mermaid without a head strapped to the back of the dog.

i think i have pictures somewhere at home, i'll see what i can find. :)

My Beagle prefers to be naked, so he has a jester-type collar complete with bells that he wears. If I'm not feeling the bells, he's got other bandanas he can wear.

Never fails - every year when I put the plywood cat silhouette in the cemetery, he has to run & check it out, sniffing every inch. It's not like he doesn't have 3 live cats in the house to be familiar with them.

I have a reflective vest for him, so I did try to have him hang out with me (as the candy inspector) for ToT one year, but he's not a fan of strangers approaching me - and even less so when they're in costume! So he stays inside.

My cats prefer to be naked, too. So I don’t even try. It was hard enough trying to put a harness on one of them, so I can only imagine what an actual costume might do. I think dogs are probably more resilient to their humans trying to dress them up.

That’s funny about the cat silhouette. He knows it looks like a cat, but doesn’t know why it doesn’t smell or act like a cat!

The Furry Ruiner Bros. hate the doorbell so they mostly stay under the bed on Halloween night.

When ever I did a projection in the front window Augie would always have to walk in the window so you'd see zombies, ghosts, etc. & then a big cat shadow!

My puppers love Halloween. Well mostly the fact that we have kids over and for the party people are constantly dropping food. Last year during my Halloween photo shoot, they (Kletus and Ellie) photobombed me holding a brain. And than I have my girl Jazmin who is a true party animal.
Love that second photo! Is she wearing a tutu???

I forgot I had this picture, but this was one of my first Halloweens in this house after buying it, and Roman, my one cat who gets into everything, strikes again literally just a few hours after I pulled out all my Halloween decorations. He’s such a bad boy!

But with a face like this, how can I stay mad? :D

I have two dogs and a scaredy cat. I don't really costume them, but I have an animal skeleton for each of them, I have the Buster skeleton for my dog Yahtzee, one of those barking french bulldog skeletons for my chug Maddie, and a dainty cat skeleton for my wedgie Calleigh; so their costumes are...their own ghosts! BOO! LOL Sometimes I wonder if I could find a pet-safe glow in the dark chalk or paint or something so they'd look more ghostly, that way it would be more like a costume than an excuse not to costume my pets. :D

Love this thread!
My furry daughter gets dressed up for Halloween, and she doesn't seem to even notice! She's more cushion than cat, so is quite happy to be part of the scenery as long as people make a fuss of her. Here she is dressed as a carnival elephant for our party last year ...

How precious! I always say, if I get another cat--it's gonna be a ragdoll. She looks right at home next to that nightmare clown! ^.^
